The restaurant was extremely loud. When we walked in, we were hit by a wall of sound including the blasting music. Okay then, this wasn’t going to be a quiet dining experience! I ended up hoarse from trying to talk over the din and my ears are still ringing! I ordered the tamales, with beans and rice. It arrived fairly quickly like they’d heated up a frozen dinner and much to my surprise, it tasted exactly like the frozen dinners you can get in your local grocery — not the rich crumbly cornbread stuffed with peppers and pulled chicken that a real tamale should be but rather these two thin, floppy corn dough wraps with whatever meat mix was inside, supposedly chicken, swimming in flavorless hot sauce. They really did taste exactly like they bought them from the supermarket’s frozen section and just heated them up. It would have saved us the $50 to buy cheap frozen dinners but that’s not what we were looking for. The refried beans were the same…like semi-liquid brown stuff, no bacon chunks or pieces of beans, just a liquidy mass that cooled quickly and lay there like brown cement, very little taste. And the rice was just boring, which in the case of this restaurant, is saying something positive. My husband’s steak quesadillas were, as he put it, “…bland, very bland,” again, a high compliment considering the place. To my surprise, there was no flan on the dessert menu. As the waitress stood there, asking us about dessert, a roach appeared and crawled slowly across our table, across the menu, making its way towards the silverware on the table. I am not making this up, I couldn’t make it up!!! We were both horrified! A roach on the dinner table has serious implications, and means at least that their place is dirty and their hygiene questionable at best. I was glad there was no flan for who knows what might crawl into a pudding? I grabbed the red roach in my napkin and the waitress took it, seemed quite unconcerned, which means to me that they see them a lot. When we called for the manager, named “Maddie,” she came out after a while and as I attempted to explain what had happened, she actually raised her voice at me and shouted, wouldn’t let me speak, shouted over me and then turned on her heel saying, “I don’t need this!” and hid in the kitchen never to emerge again or certainly not for the next ten minutes. The servers were embarrassed and very nice about it all and we tipped them as it wasn’t their fault. A normal manager would have had the grace to be embarrassed, apologize profusely, and refund our money. We used to like this place but it has become the worst of the worst. So far, no food poisoning, Stay away! It should be closed down as a health hazard.
Great new menu options!

What a shame! After 10+ years of going there over any place in the area and nothing but absolutely support because of their exceptionally good queso, they have seemingly changed it like they do with everything else and it is horrible. Actually one of the worst I've ever had and people sitting near me when I spoke to the manager about it agreed. Props to uncle Julio's for always finding a way to mess things up when they're going good! Safe to say I will nor any customer should be back until they go back to what made them good. IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT!

I ordered about $100 worth of food from Uncle Julio’s in Bethesda, and when my husband got home, nearly half of the order was missing. The restaurant said they could either remake the food if we drove back (which would’ve taken over 30 minutes) or issue a $30 refund. We chose the refund, but it was never processed.
I’ve contacted the restaurant five times over the past month with no response at all. Incredibly disappointing. Not only did we pay for food we never received, but they also completely ignored multiple attempts to resolve it. Poor customer service and no accountability.

Very disappointed. We ordered the sift tacos. It was mushy, hardly had any shredded chicken, the black beans was very good, the rice not bad. The waiter was sweet but forgetful and slow. I don't think it'll go back.
Went with my family last Sunday. Food was delicious and service was outstanding. Elsi our Server was great and made our Evening more memorable. I recommended.
Went for my bday, but the hostess were really rude. My reservation was at 8 and we got sat at 835. The only good thing about this place was the dessert. Food was not good and felt like they made it rushed. Amigos is a lot better when it comes to food and service.
Best Mexican food in the area

My wife and I like going there for Taco Tuesday. But there's a woman who sits at the bar. Gets on her cell phone and screams into it to whoever she's talking to for an hour. It is so annoying. That I don't want to go there anymore. Shouldn't be able to sit at the bar and scream into your cell phone while people are trying to enjoy themselves. It is really unnerving.
I went there today for a late lunch and our server catherine gave phenomenal service. She was very busy with lots of other tables as she was the only server we saw and yet still took the time to chat with us! definitely will be back for her! Good food and good service, definitely recommend.
Had a great meal with friends and family. Delicious food and good atmosphere.
Place used to be very legit. My plate size here has been cut in half and my bill has doubled. Food lacked flavor and the service lacked service. Who’s running this company into the ground? It’s a shame. P.S. I saw maybe everyone working here on their cell phone. Pretty nasty if they are touching food or plates. My opinion.
tamales were SO amazing!!! blonde girl with slick back bun is very good waitress!
