The cookies at Levain Bakery were fresh out of the oven and absolutely delicious. I tried the signature Chocolate Chip Walnut and the Two Chip, and the Two Chip was easily my favorite—crispy on the outside, soft and gooey in the middle, with chocolate melting everywhere. Service was fast, and the staff was very friendly. Fresh, warm, and exactly what you want from a bakery cookie!
The cookies at Levain Bakery were the main reason for the visit, and the chocolate chip walnut was rich, soft in the center, and packed with chocolate. We also tried the dark chocolate chip cookie, which had a deeper flavor without being overly sweet. The cookies are definitely substantial, so one was enough to share between two people. They were warm and satisfying, although the richness can be a little much if you're looking for a lighter dessert.
Nice store atmosphere and they sell cute merch like cookie glasses and plates.
I got the Levain Cookie Milk Latte. It was not too sweet and the espresso and salted cold foam added some nice variety to the drink.

Levain Bakery is a really popular spot conveniently located among the multiple shops within Bethesda. Staff are kind, friendly, professional, and attentive, creating a warm and welcoming environment. Service is friendly and very fast. The shop smells so good. Cookies are thick cookie central and always a hit. Cookies are large, moist, and tasty. Taste was good overall, with a contrast in textures between the crisp exterior and soft interior. The must haves are the seasonal cookies, carrot cake and lemon. The chocolate chip walnut is preferred over the seasonal carrot cake. The raisin scone is a favorite, and the cherry scone for cherry blossom season is fabulous. Scones and cookies are always fresh. The Vegan Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Walnut has a rich flavor profile but is very dense. No seating is available in-store. Prices feel a bit on the higher side and are on the high end.
