I think the worst thing about this rating is that its not all Safeway''s fault. I'm sure the pandemic played a minor role. However, they NEVER have more than two cashiers working and they close ridiculously early. They definitely tried to make the store look better but I still rather drive to Crofton to go either to Wegmans or Giant. Heck I'll even go to Harris Teeter before I shop here and they're ONE MINUTE from my home. They're nothing more than a glorified CVS with more groceries. I hope corporate sees this, call me or email me. This place has stunk for years.

I've had two back-to-back problems with the delivery part of the online shopping experience with Safeway and while the company is aware they have a problem, they're unwilling to fix it. Cost cutting at Safeway has led to more self-serve checkouts, no one at the service desk, and a phone that rings without pick up. I've used Safeway mostly because they offer discounts on certain items but the hassle of shopping at Safeway has exceeded the benefits. I'd rather pay a premium if my experience is great...so I go to find a better shopping experience.

Even with a nice remodel, this Safeway just cannot get customer service right. The folks in the self checkout area always look like you're bothering them, the hand carts aren't conveniently located, but the ONE plus is the pharmacy. Love the pharmacy but the store itself not so much. It's Giant for me moving forward.

If you need to hurry up and get something it's okay to come out here, but one thing I can say is that this place is not clean. This is the second time that I have come here and I have found trash throughout the store on the floor And multiple doors on the fridge-ration areas broken off the hedges I don't know if I just came at a bad time after a rush of people swarm through the place, but things need to be improved especially in the check out area. It was to the point, customers didn't want to go to certain registers because there was trash, receipts, and our door leaves twigs on the grounds. I would assume after the renovation, the location would get better as far as appearance and staff cleanliness; however, they are lacking on cleanliness. Wish I took pictures but I was in a rush.

SMH. Horrible experience from the deli to the cashier. Where do they hire these people from; at a bus stop traveling into town? Go to Giant, Wegmans, Harris Teeter or even Aldi! All better interactions.

I stopped shopping here because there's always an issue and today , unfortunately, was no different . I went in to get pepperoni and provolone cheese for a recipe Im making . The lady at the deli counter was unfriendly and didn't get my order correct . I asked for around 1/4 - 1/2 lb pepperoni sliced THIN but when she handed it to me it was not enough . I asked her to cut more which she did and added it to the bag . I needed provolone cheese which I asked if she could slice that thin too . I just got home and the 2nd portion of pepperoni was cut very thick and so is the cheese . I went to pay at auto check - out and I was charged FULL PRICE for the pepperoni but after help from the guy there, we finally got it correct . I just looked at my receipt and see I was charged FULL PRICE FOR THE CHEESE THATS ON SALE !!! Watch your receipts people !!!!

Over the years I have kept coming back even though the service is just down right horrible. Today I was looking at the discount shelf. Found an item , list $39.95. Went to ring it up and not a penny less. The management response, it wasn't supposed to be on the discount shelf. Done with the management of this store. Hello Harris Teeter.

The worst store ever! I paid the lottery tickets but unfortunately the lottery vending machine didn't print out ticket and the receipt. The store manager Drew was not helping. He asked for the receipt, and we told him I diid not have it because the lottery machine didn't print out the receipt. The manager refused to refund or did not do something to ensure that I got the printed receipt. I was told to contact the company for refund or fix the problem. The company confirmed the manager of Safeway is responsible to refund. Now I missed an opportunity to win the lottery. They ruined my day and do not appreciate what the manager Drew did. We no longer trust this store at all! We're going take a legal action

The older lady in the hot food section has a bad attitude towards customers ( not the jamaican lady) the other one on the day shift.

I stopped by to pick up a few things for a rainy afternoon lunch. I was able to get some Select Tomato bisque soup, a cold cut sandwich, and a soda. The service is the check out was great. The store was well organized and stocked. I will definitely be back.

The store at Bowie Town center is horrible when it comes to catering to the Handicapped. There is only one HP cart and it is either never charged, or it is broken. You would think that for The prices charged, Safeway would invest a small amount to cater to the Senior community Which is practically at its' back door! This problem has gone on for too long!! I understand that there Is a way to keep these things within a certain distance from the store to prevent thief!!

Pretzel ham cheese sandwich went from $6.99 for two to 6.99 for one. I know prices have gone up ,I use to eat these for lunch but not anymore. Also got a nice sized boxed chicken ceaser salad ,but the croutons were soft and the salad had been dripped with lemon riinds included. Please I like your salads but that was disgusting. No lemon added to salad please.

Safeway customer service in Bowie may be going down. I returned chicken that smelled spoiled. The representative acted like I personally asked her for money. She was rude and didn't know the Freshness Guarantee that is clearly posted at the front counter. I didn't want to match her energy so I just accepted my $9.67 refund. There are nice store reps working at Safeway so maybe this is just an isolated incident.

I recently had the most pleasant visit to the Safeway in Bowie. Although the store was busy the selves were fully stocked and the department's were very helpful with providing items and information. The best part of my trip however was my checkout. I am a fanatic for exceptional customer service and I must give a well done to the cashier NAHIF. He was most gracious and welcoming. Although the lines were long he moved swiftly all while displaying a immense amount of enthusiasm. He most certainly made my trip feel more of a adventure than a task. You rock NAHIF and Bowie Safeway . Keep up the good work and thank you
