This is one of our favorite places to eat, but we had a very bad experience about two months ago that I'm still thinking about every time I want to go back there. We had a waitress we've never had before (and honestly I hope she is not still there). She did not say hi, did not smile, did not say a single thing really. Just acted cold and annoyed. I always like to give people the benefit of the doubt, like maybe they're having a bad day or something, but I could tell this was just her personality and she should not be working with the public. It was clear we were there for a birthday and she didn't even say happy birthday or try to make it a special night. All I can do is hope she's no longer working there because the customers don't deserve to be treated like that. Some families save up to go out to a nice dinner and someone like her goes and ruins it.
I am one of those people who tips generously, but I had to get up and go outside and leave my father-in-law to deal with the tip because for the first time in my life I wanted to leave the waitress nothing.
The food was great as usual, but for everyone's sake I hope that girl found a new job.

The Ott House is a favorite stop for us whenever we are in or passing through Emmitsburg. Parking is on street if that bothers you. Food is outstanding. I cannot say that I have ever walked out disappointed. Great prices as well. Staff is always friendly and fast.

We visit Ott House at least once a week. The noise level has been quiet during our weekday visits. The noise level has been more moderate on the weekend but still easy to talk. There are areas away from the bar that are much more quiet.

Arrived mid-week at lunch time. Sign displayed mentioned staff shortage and to please be patient. Seated ourselves. Got our own menus from bar . Wait time was not too bad. Ordered fried fish sandwich with fries and fried oyster sandwich with side of chips. Portions were small and food tasted okay but cooled off quickly

Another great experience at The Ott House on 5/25/25!......food was awesome!.....Oyster sammich with 4 HUGE oysters.....New England clam Chowder.....cheeseburger plate. Our server, Lexi, was on top of everything. Obviously was not her first rodeo.😋 Keep up the good work!
