Based on the reviews, Gene Poe's Bar & Restaurant is a great, old-fashioned mom and pop type place with a homey feel, not a chain. The atmosphere is crazy, and it should be preserved like a museum for bars that don't exist much more. They have the best deals for seafood and beer, especially for Thursday specials and Tuesday specials. The wings are impressive, with options like barbecue and dry garlic Parm. Other recommended meals include a crab melt with tater tots, an awesome Rueben with onion rings, and hometown cooking with fresh ingredients like the shrimp salad and delicious beets. However, some food items are a miss. The tuna salad was horrific, runny like cucumber salad with too much mayonnaise. A 16 oz Ribeye ordered medium came out grey and well, looking baked. The soft crab sandwich was a premade store-bought disaster with no legs or claws. The macaroni salad was also store-bought. Despite this, the service from servers like Stacy and Kim is phenomenal and polite. The potato salad and crab soup are good, and the bathroom is clean. A 110% recommendation is given, though one reviewer expects to go back but won't be eating.
