Maxwell's Burgers & Shakes

I stopped here after I went to the MVA. This was my first visit but it won't be the last. Outstanding service when I asked for recommendations. I ordered the fish sandwich with fries and and hot chocolate. It was the best fish sandwich I've ever had, and the fries were also delicious. The hot chocolate came in a fun holiday mug since I was eating in. If I lived closer I'd come here all the time.

This place has a vibe of its own. The food is delicious. Kids had dogs and adults had burger / sandwiches. The bozzy milkshakes are good. If you feel like having a cocktail, you can go next door to Xth ward distillery and order Maxwell food from there too.

I've never been but I saw a post that they are providing meals at no charge for people in need. That deserves more than 5 stars in my opinion

Atmosphere is a 4 because there’s a good music vibe in the kitchen but it’s loud enough to clash with the background music in the sitting area. I’d rather hear that great buzz more clearly, especially hearing the kitchen staff singing along to Down Under from Men At Work. Had a kind of Johnny Rocket’s nostalgia vibe that made me smile.

Food is a 4.5 really, but no half stars. Got the Maxx Stack and it was pretty solid, especially at the $14 price. Two issues: one is my fault, asking for American cheese added kind of spoiled the experience a bit with how salty the American cheese was. Just stick with the smoked cheddar and you’re golden. The other issue is my Med-Rare order had a Rare top patty and a Med-Well bottom patty. Also didn’t see any of the bottled beer priced on menu or at the cooler, and it came to $7.50 which given the domestics were only at $3 it was a bit of a shock.

Service is straight 5. Very polite, very kind and attentive. No complaints at all.

Overall 4.5 if I could. Just a few hiccups but not enough to discourage me from recommending this place and coming back again. Just avoid the American cheese.

Maxwell’s Burgers & Shakes has easily become one of my favorite spots in town. The place has a great mix of comfort and quality, the kind of spot where the food speaks for itself and the service always feels genuine.

My go-to order is the Max Stack with added bacon, and it never disappoints. It’s the perfect balance of flavor and texture, juicy patties stacked high, melted cheese, and that crispy bacon that ties it all together. Every bite hits just right. The bun is soft but sturdy enough to hold it all, and the fresh toppings give it that extra crunch.

Pair it with their seasoned fries and one of their signature shakes, and you’ve got the ultimate meal. The staff always get the order right, and the food comes out hot and fresh every single time.

If you’re looking for a burger spot that actually delivers on flavor and consistency, Maxwell’s Burgers & Shakes is the one. The Max Stack with bacon is the move, trust me.

Wow, one of the best burgers I have had! Definitely worth coming here and the prices are reasonable.
I tried the sweet potatoe tods and they had a very interesting seasoning. It's slightly sweet. Very good!
Whatever you get, get a Max sauce as well!

The manager of Maxwell's was extremely kind, I believe his name was Tristan- He was welcoming, professional, and clearly had a passion for the food and staff he was working with. The food was delicious and flavorful; Cooked to perfection. I will most certainly be returning hungry and hope to see him again.

Great food but what is amazing is the attitude of the person who took our order and served us. He was amazing and tok time to make sure to avoid anything with garlic because of our allergies.

Came here for a quick anniversary dinner and loved it! Service, friendliness, selection, food quality, and even Kristen (?) The cashier did something extra for us celebrating that just made the night even better.
