Black Hog BBQ Reviews
Outstanding! I am up here for work from Florida, and as many times as I have been to Frederick, I can't believe I have not eaten here sooner.
The atmosphere is wonderful! There is nothing better than the smell of smoked BBQ filling the air. Ample parking, and I love the location.
The food is fantastic! I had the potato salad, sweet potatoes, and 2 meats (Arkansas Brisket which are burnt tips and Hot Links). The platter comes with pickled onions, pickles, and cornbread. It...read full review
Service was good. Nice and accommodating. The atmosphere was fine. Nothing special but you aren't in a BBQ place for atmosphere.
The brisket was bad. Dry. Bark had no bite to it. Fat cap wasn't trimmed or at least looked like it. The sauces weren't very good either.
The burt ends where just cubed meat. Way too much sauce. Couldn't taste the meat. The Mac and cheese was average. I don't like it dry. The brown sugar sweet potatoes were fine.

I usually have had a good experience here, they have excellent food! unfortunately their bartenders don’t know how to check ids. i recently turned 21 so i understand why they are cautious but to turn away a loyal paying customer with a valid id is absurd to me. the bartender then asked if i had anything else with my name on it… thats even more illegal! a photo id is the requirement correct? not my problem they got busted a few weeks ago serving without carding. maybe invest...read full review

Black Hog BBQ offers a pleasant dining experience with friendly service, smoked meats, sides, and desserts. This restaurant, which started in Frederick, Maryland, has expanded into a small chain with four locations in the state. The Middletown branch is the newest addition, situated in a strip center with ample parking. Known for consistently good and above average BBQ in the area, customers often highlight the generous portions, such as the thick cut brisket in the DMV sandwich, making it a great choice for a satisfying lunch. The take-out staff are friendly, and many appreciate the attentive service and quality of food. Diners enjoy the delightful aroma of smoked BBQ that fills the air. Although the atmosphere is generally positive, some mention minor issues like plastic silverware, wobbly tables, and flies when dining in. Despite these inconveniences, the clean environment, reasonable prices, and excellent service make Black Hog BBQ a worthwhile destination for BBQ lovers. Many customers recommend trying the chopped pork platter and appreciate the unique flavor of the original BBQ sauce.
