First thoughts, super friends people, very nice building and facilities, the bottles are cool, and very neat how they do spicy and fizzy meads. No music on a Saturday which was sad. And don’t come here for food, it’s not great bites for the price.
Dog friendly, delicious beverages!
Great place! Very cozy, delicious drinks! Kid-friendly.
Very good selections of Mead. Relaxing atmosphere.
Staff is very helpful. My son had not had mead and wanted to try some. Mead is not my thing and I didn't realize they had cider too until I wrote this review. ?!?! I would like to have tried some.
The owners are the kindest most down to earth people you could ever meet. This winery is far better than any other winery I’ve been to as they put their heart and soul into providing for customers. The string lights, the music, the patio, the huge grass area, this place is just so earthy and breathtaking. Please give them business, they deserve far more than any other winery in MD.
We stumbled upon this gem back in May. It’s tucked away in the heart of Middletown right along Little Catoctin Creek. The main building is a beautiful log cabin with a wrap around deck. (Our favorite spot to sit). With beautiful Mountain View’s and wild flowers covering the sides. They also have a patio with lots of tables and chairs (string lights along the top creating a romantic vibe). The Cabin is climate controlled with AC and Heat. It’s very comfortable and roomy. They also have indoor bathrooms that are kept very clean. We returned yesterday because we loved our last tasting so much. Kate greeted us right away and helped us decide on what to order. As their menu changes seasonally. She was very knowledgeable, patient and kind. Yesterday we did another tasting, we got the Scorpion (their spicest mead), a basic Honey mead, the Fletcher (hints of floral mead), and the Alchemist (with had a small kick to it as well). All the meads range from 16-18%. I’ve done lots of tastings at different wineries and this is by far my favorite. As you get a lot of bang for your buck. They also typically will allow you to sample a mead if you’re interested in buying a bottle too. We ended up buying a 4 pack of their hop mead and a bottle of the Fletcher Mead to go. They had a food truck their yesterday which was awesome (as they personally do not offer food & snacks). It’s the perfect little Sunday afternoon date spot. We will definitely be returning in the fall to enjoy another tasting and the beautiful foliage.
I also want to note it’s family/kid friendly, both occasions we went we took our baby and there were several other toddlers and babies as well. It’s well chair accessible as well with a ramp to get into the cabin (need be). We loved it for easy access to bring our stroller in.
During the Frederick fair they have their mead for sale in one of the alcohol tents. So if it’s too far of a drive, you should totally sample some at the fair (in September).
Great place to hang out - beautiful
And the Peruvian food truck is amazing
Friendly environment and a relaxing view. The gazebos are great for small groups, and dogs are welcome.

Always a pleasant experience
Quaint and picturesque. Friendly staff. Not much parking. Indoor and outdoor seating. Relaxing place to socialize.
Drove an hour or so to come check out Orchid Meadery- came specifically for their Mead- and it did not disappoint! These folks were very kind and great to get to know their story- and their Mead is really something else. This family came all the way from Poland 20+ years ago and have been making Mead all this time. Their process and products are refined and perfected for a beautiful variety of well-made Mead products. Some of the best Mead we’ve ever encountered in the US thus far. Please come out and check out this place- definitely a hidden gem!
Nice alternative to wineries.
Ambience was awesome. Service was perfect. Log cabin and views were amazing!
