I really wanted to love this place, especially since it's a small business. We ordered a ham and Brie sandwich, almond croissant, and a napoleon. We were going to order coffee but it comes from a keurig machine and felt like skipping today. The ham and Brie sandwich was quite disappointing. The mustard was too much and the bread was stale. We couldn't finish it and thought, wow, how can a sandwich be this messed up? The almond croissant was over baked. It lacked the crispy flakes that a croissant needs. It also was a bit burnt on the bottom. The napolean was probably the best choice of the 3. It was flaky and has just the right amount of custard. It was good. I wish he hadn't tossed a cake into a paper bag. A cake ought to come in a structured container to preserve its shape. I came here after reading all the good reviews. Perhaps the reviews are outdated. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back for a Saturday lunch.

Unwelcoming male worker/possible owner. Couldn’t find the daggone place cuz the sign is so faded. The bakery looked like it was empty all the baked goods were removed from the display area. I was confused. The guy didn’t speak more than 3 words to me. He gave me two gigantic frozen hard “eclairs” from the back kitchen never seen eclairs like that. This place is ridiculous unnerving to me cuz the guy didn’t show me the screen and swiped my card. I was nervous he was going to tip himself. We will see my credit card said. Seems a bit much $14 for 2 frozen cold eclairs, 2 mini canele and 1 regular canele. Oh well. Trying to support small biz.Update: the eclairs were dry af choux and the caneles look nothing like the older photos. These were dried up and appearance wise didn’t match up to previous pics so I thjnk this place has new baker or owners sadly. It’s a no for me dog

I stumbled across this place and was excited to try croissants. They were delicious. Fresh and flaky. ?? I also bought a pastry with sweet cottage cheese and jam and it was so good! The nice lady at the counter gave me samples of small pastries to try and now I wish I bought more. So all in all everything was great and now I wish they are closer to DC. ?

It is still as good as I remember it over a year ago. Told bad I didn't get my coffee. They didn't have any made. Croissant was very flaky and buttery.

Terrible. I do not recommend. I went because i saw good reviews and i like to pay local businesses. The pastries were cold. No cappuccino, fine, so i got a small coffee. No creamer or sugar provided. When i asked for some he shrugged. Definitely won't be back.

Ordered a variety of pastries from this place. I enjoyed the tart with berries but everything else tasted stale and dry. My almond croissant had almost no almond filling. The customer service was also less than welcoming. The guy at the counter didn't give much description about the pastries and there were no signs to indicate what each item was.

The pictures and the hopes of finding a rose among the thorns of neighboring retail space and drab surroundings drew me to this bakery. My first occasion, I was greeted by a lone customer dining at the window table. She said I'd need to shout my presence because the staff were in the back baking. Grateful for the chance to check out the wares in peace, I nodded my thanks to her and silently perused the pastries. What I saw looked ok but perhaps dried out from sitting on the counter uncovered for who knows how long. Nothing looked so inviting, and the staff never emerged. So, I grabbed a meal elsewhere. The second time I visited, a gentleman was waiting on customers. I ordered a sandwich, which was tasty enough, and two pastries. My request for one of the advertised coffee beverages was shot down gruffly with a grunt, and a head shake (a la "no cappuccino for you") but without explanation. I get why people feel like the service is atrocious. They're not wrong, if the charmer who prepared and rang up my food is any indication. The bad service isn't redeemed by the food.

I love this place. All the pastries are amazing, but you have to get here early, or you’ll miss out of your favorites!

My stomach hurts ?Got a croissant and apple strudel early in the morning. Both were soggy, despite the person behind the counter saying everything was baked today. The apple strudel had a very strange texture with whole walnuts that were undercooked and raisins that were soggy. The apple itself was incredibly sinewy with the skin both crunchy and fibrous? And it cost $10 for these. You’re better off going to Safeway’s bakery. At least there, the store sign won’t be completely faded and the employees will actually know what they’re talking about..

Sad to say this place has gone way downhill. Prices are not posted and we were shocked to see that 3 small pastries added up to $17. Two pastries were $7 each!! Very little variety- even getting my there around 10 am I would think there were be some items left but it was scarce. It made me wonder if they were even made this morning. The man only comes out to the front (from the back room) when he hears someone come in the door. Very little description when we asked what things were because there were labels. No baguettes- they said they weren't ready yet- who knows how long one would need to wait. This place needs a sign out front that isn't faded to the point that it can no longer be read anymore and they need better customer service in addition to just all around better pastries and prices. It's so disappointing because we used to love this hidden gem and they even catered the desserts at my wedding but I don't think I will be back again.

I can only guess that the strong scores came from better days. The lowest point was: dirty plates. The surly person behind the counter was unable to produce a clean plate for our pastries. He rummaged through the pile of all dirty plates sitting near the counter and tried to wipe off one with a paper napkin. His service overall was poor; with barely audible answers to questions (or just an unhappy shrug). Prices are not posted. The table also wasn't clean despite there being no other customers to keep the attendant busy. They do not have the espresso drinks despite signage. The pastries ranged from okay to not very good at all - dried out. I had asked if everything was made today and he said yes, but I am not convinced. The best pastry item was an almond croissant (if I heard him correctly; there were no signs indicating what anything was). I wouldn't say it was really a croissant -- not much lamination -- but it still tasted okay and was soft.

The pastries are delicious and the staff is unassuming. Don't expect them to roll out the red carpet but you can expect the best French baked goods in the area.

I ordered a salmon sandwich and coffee with milk. The guy hands me 2 gallon jug of whole milk to pour into my coffee. I checked the expiration date and it had 2 days left until expired so I poured some into my coffee. It tasted sour and I notified the server which he said it's not expired and shrugged. I asked to smell the milk and it smelled awful. He prepared me a new coffee but I knew immediately that the fridge isn't holding temperature so out of caution I just threw away the sandwich. I don't like to give bad reviews but I feel like out of safety for the public I'd leave a comment
