Bagan Burmese Cuisine

Amazing Place. Hotels were inexpensive but fabulous. Settings and service next to none. Try boat anchored on Erawati Raft for sunset drink and food. Morning coffee too. The coconut plantation was touristy but amazing eats and drinks.Our guide Alex made our whole trip. Alex will show you around. Nice young guy with lots of great info. Always on time. Delicious!!! Great addition to Pike Kitchen. We asked the server for their "tastiest" dishes and we loved both of them. We had the Burmese Garlic Noodle -- very fresh noodles, perfectly flavored garlic with very light butter-like sauce and small (very fresh) chicken chunks. We also had the Traditional Burmese Tea Leaf Salad. Very unusual dish. So flavorful and fantastic textures. Truly outstanding. Will be back soon to try Bagan's other dishes.

I was so happy to hear this place opened in Pike Kitchen, as my wife and I really miss the Burmese place in Gaithersburg that closed awhile back. (Also, we used to go to Café Mingala in NYC a lot back in the day). We were pretty pleased when we came to Bagan and tried the tea leaf salad and two noodle dishes the other day, plus the black-pepper-filled chicken soups that came as a side with the noodles.
