I wish i could give a 3.5. this place was beautiful, and the service was great. i felt like i was at a fancy restaurant. all the food i got was delicious... but one important dish was lacking.we got fried edamame (amazing), spicy sushi entree (best spicy sushi I've ever eaten), and complimentary tea.my main dish was one of the "Damo specials", meals that are far more pricey than the normal sushi, that claim to be enough for one meal, and have 8 pieces. it did not live up to that.i got the Black Pearl (salmon, black fish eggs, mango, and fried crab sticks), and it was wider than a normal sushi roll, but only 5 pieces. the worst part, was there was very little salmon - it was filled with the fried sticks. there was only one piece with a decent amount of fish in it. i paid $17 for mostly air. my stomach was rumbling once i finished.

Fish was not fresh, and strangely warm. Yuck.Edit: owner responded in a condescending way taking no responsibility for bad food. Was not “room temperature”. The sushi was warm, and did not taste fresh. Look at this guy’s defensive responses to bad reviews, this guy’s ego is unbelievable. He has no interest in doing better. Do not eat here.

Food very bad. Owner takes no responsibility. Has no desire to do better. Fish was not fresh. Everything was warm (not room temperature, warm) including the fish and the rice.

Would not go back ... EVER!! Food was terrible (sushi did. It taste fresh) and service was even worse especially as there were only 3 other tables when we were there yet there were 6 members of the waitstaff in the floor

If you're picky about the quality of your Sushi, Sashimi, and Japanese food in general, this is not the place for you. Moreover, this place is very noisy, and unclean. We were surprised to see customers with tank tops, and needless to say, if you know what this means, ..... On top of everything, this is more of a Chinese restaurant supposedly serving Japanese food. For my wife and I, this was the fist and last time.

I have been going to sushi damo since I was a teenager. It was definitely a high standard for me at the time. The resturant focuses on more of a classic look then a Japanese felling. I have ordered almost everything on the menu and there was not one thing I didn’t like. I enjoy the service. The thing that makes you pause is the price which is more expensive then a standard sushi place. So I definitely visit Damo every few months.

Great staff and service! Food was INCREDIBLE! The sushi was absolutely phenomenal. We also got edamame- great. The spicy yellowtail appetizer was super good but just small amount for the price. Wish we wouldve gotten a bit more. I got the spicy mistletoe sushi roll, incredible. Spider roll was great as well. Need to try more Everything I would give a 10/10 and I will definitely be back here soon.

Love the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, with the added benefit of great food. The sushi is fresh and they have there own house saki.Great escape for a mid-week download.

DON'T EAT HERE. Not trying to complain, but need to be honest. This is terrible sushi. $40 for a sashimi platter, and the pieces were half the size I'd expect and tasted fishy. Same with the 2 rolls - extremely small, old tasting, and overpriced.EDIT: Restaurant has commented that many of my reviews are 1-star reviews. I just counted my reviews, and here is the truth - 65% of them are 5-star. 12% are 1-star. It seems more like an attempt to discredit this review as coming from someone who always just complains, rather than a compliment of my high standards. Do with that what you will.

To preface: I don't particularly care for sushi. While nothing against it, I've never really been a big “fish” person, and I usually enjoy other staples of Japanese cuisine. I've had really good sushi before in Hawai'i at such places ranging from the more every-day such as Genki Sushi — to the higher end at Hanale and Sushi Taro. But Sushi Damo, I can say with absolute confidence, is where I've finally discovered a love for sushi that has left me returning more frequently than any of my other favourite restaurants. The Golden Flame roll with its delicious yuzu sauce that leaves a welcoming, lightly tart sensation that evolves into a lovely sweet aftertaste is unlike anything I've experienced in sushi before. Though I would credit other institutions for introducing me to sushi, my love for the cuisine comes from Sushi Damo.

If you feel like going back in time and enjoying seeing all waiters and staff heavily masked, this is the place for you. Very tiny sushi do not add much, Many other places in the area serve 3-4x larger fish for the same price.

The meal was ok but nothing to make me come back. The udon soup was bland. The wait staff over poured the beer, kind of cleaned it up but didn't replace it. Just laughed it off. The wait staff was constantly asking if we wanted to order anything else while we were eating and then no where to be found when it came time to pay the bill.

I had a great time the last time I was here. But the fish tastes old and the rice is so stale or uncooked that it is slightly crunchy. What is this???????Also, prices increased in the past few weeks since the last time I was here. My favorite roll went up by over $4, which is INSANE. I need to shop for a new sushi place when I thought I had found the one.
