We recently moved to the area and have been on the hunt to find a go-to sushi spot. I think we found it! Portions were great, price was fair, and it felt great supporting a local business over all the chains around Rockville and Bethesda. A couple chefs and one super friendly woman serving the food.
This isn’t the place you go to for a full on dining experience with fancy/expensive cocktails. Because the majority of their business is takeout, everything was served out of to-go containers. As long as you don’t have issues with this, as we didn’t, you’ll enjoy it.
Best fried tofu I’ve had in the US.

Sushi House used to provide a consistently good, well priced Sushi experience for dine in. That has changed. It’s fairly sad because of how much has changed. The business is clearly struggling, they must serve everything in disposable take out containers. Even water is just served by the bottle, not in a tumbler, and tea is served in a paper cup. So a “dinner out” doesn’t feel like a “dinner out” anymore. The owner and staff are still very friendly, and I hope they can find a way to ignite some of the energy back into their place. Tidy it up a bit, and deliver what they used to do so well. They clearly know how, But competition on the pike is tough, tips go away or decrease greatly when most of your business is take out, and it has clearly impacted them, their ability to hire staff, and provide a nice dining out experience. Their food is good, you probably wont be dissapointed with the takeout experience, but dine in for now is not what it was.

I grabbed a quick but tasty lunch here of their salmon teriyaki bento box. Although the vast majority of their business is take-out, they do have six tables arranged for sit down dining. So I was not surprised when the Miso soup arrived in a plastic take-out bowl with a lid with a plastic spoon. Large cubes of tofu and attention to flavor made it tasty. The California roll was served on its own heavy duty paper plate, with at least a tablespoon of pickled ginger and a teaspoon of wasabi. The teriyaki salmon, two large pieces, was served in an open to-go box, along with a sizeable portion of edamame and a house salad with a lovely ginger sauce. The salmon was perfectly cooked with enough teriyaki sauce to ensure some with every bite of salmon without the fish swimming in the sauce. Clearly a place worthy of a return visit or at least to phone ahead for take-out.

The sushi was not so great. They make sushi but it's not well bound or tasty. There was bones in the unagi and salmon. They need to treat the fish nicely and not just smash it.
The food is ALWAYS fresh and packed with flavor. I’m a picky with sushi, and this is the only place around I go to and crave regularly.
Great service - I’ve been there countless times and i’ve never had a bad experience. I highly recommend!
