Vegan reviewer here! It was my first time to Yuan Fu Vegetarian and based on the reviews I was really excited to try them out. I went on a Friday night around 8 PM. From the outside it's nothing spectacular which is a great sign of authenticity. Right when you enter there's booths and tables with the counter at the back. They were about 1/4 occupied. I decided to seat myself in a booth and was greeted right away and handed a menu and was asked what I wanted to drink. I ended up deciding on the pecking duck which was the most recommended menu item and the vegetable chow foon since that dish is one of my favorites to order at any Asian restaurant. The both dishes came out about 10 minutes later. I had never had real pecking duck but wow this was delicious. The plum sauce really complimented the dish. Definitely order this dish. The chow foon was alright. Rice noodles really soak up any sauce you put on it so I was disappointed when there wasn't much flavor. The noodles were also pretty soft and I like them to have a bit of a bite. I asked for chili oil and soy sauce to jazz it up and it did the trick. I have a big appetite but had to ask for boxes. The service and food were great overall and I definitely plan on coming back and trying other dishes. One thing I will say is I asked for an itemized receipt and they had to handwrite it since they don't have a digital system. Both dishes came out to just under $35. Can't wait to come back!

Amazing!!!! I finally got the proper vegan Kung Pao experience. Tasted just like I remembered it! Sooo many vegan options, so cool to have an entirely vegetarian Chinese restaurant. What I love is the balance between fake meat options and whole food, vegetable & tofu options. The Kung Pao special had tofu, amazing, unique mushrooms & vegan meat - the perfect combination & love not having to commit to one! Love that they include plenty of peppers/vegetables with it.Delicious sweet & sour ‘chicken’ and sauce. Wonton soup. Can’t wait to try more!Lovely, nice people. Excellent, quick service. They’ve been there over 20 years & pay great attention to ingredients/quality!!

I think we went here on Christmas Day. It's hard to find anything open except for Chinese restaurants. We found it on the internet. We wanted to dine in, and did, but they only have three or four little tables. Lots of cars were lined up outside, waiting for takeout. The food was good. No complaints there. And the man behind the counter was very polite and pleasant, so he made a good impression. But I would never recommend eating in at this place. It's great for takeout.

We stopped by for lunch and ordered: bean curd and "meat", crispy seaweed pancake, three cups tofu, and fried curry triangles. We enjoyed all of them.In general, the dishes served here have a noticeable root of Shanghainese cousine. And many of the dishes are simply recreating a well known Chinese dish with mock meat or tofu. There are plenty of Chinese dishes that are vegetarian and vegan friendly by its nature. No mock meat replacement or modification. I wish the menu can include more of those dishes and more light and veggie-centric dishes.

I had the mock duck. Quality of the food was excellent, portions are well worth the price! "Meat" had good texture and was well seasoned, veggies perfectly cooked. Highly recommend!Vegetarian options: So nice to have a place where someone who is vegetarian can eat anything on the menu!

We're new to plant based diet and we're trying a vegan friendly restaurant. The food was sub par with no flavor and weird textures.

Excellent yet low-key, creative plant-based Chinese food with friendly and fast service. Easier to find seating at lunchtime than dinnertime.

We were really surprised with the lunch crowd on a Thursday. Food is good. There were two ladies covering the dining room. They were running and did not have enough time to cover it. Management should hire additional help.

With Vegetable Garden in Silver Spring closing, I guess Yuan Fu will have to step up to fill in the void. But they just aren't as good as their erstwhile competitor across Montgomery County. The Sizzling Rice Soup is the best reason to come, although I do like the mock duck appetizer. My boyfriend has had the seitan "beef" a few times and found it spongy and mushy; they should find a new way to make the seitan they use to improve the texture. The service, although quick, is not very friendly. Prices are reasonable.

This place blows. Good lo-mein but couldn't add the veggies I wanted too, like asparagus. I did take out all veggies except broccoli. Husband is a vegan and hated the food. We don't like mushrooms. They didn't say they weren't in Appetizers. Miso soup had weird smell and was missing scallions and seaweed.
