This is the greatest Tavern in Washington County, maybe even the entire state! You will not be disappointed by your visit to this great and historic place. Wether you’re on the C&O trail and need a reliable stop for lunch or if you just want to unwind in the late evening after a long day, this place should be your go-to! The Captain(owner) is very knowledgeable, the bartenders/cooks are friendly and love to serve, and the atmosphere is welcoming. 11/10 easy

It's been two or three times now, and the service is slow. Plan accordingly, good food and nice folks for sure, but don't be in a hurry.

Decided to stop in on a visit to Antietam. The menu looked good, so we stopped by. The food was great. Atmosphere was fun. What made us only give it 3 stars, 1 star for service, was because our server charged an extra $10 for their tip. We had already left one, but when we looked at the charge online, there was an extra $10 added. So if you go visit, pay cash.

In the beginning, we were confused by the calmness of the outside of the building. We thought it might be close, I definitely recommend some music to attract more people or something along those lines. Once inside, we were surprised at how cool it was, and the waiter and waitress were super attentively.
Food was top-notch, and the fries were a winner! Thanks to the cooks for such a delicious meal from my entire family and friends

We moved recently and Captain Benders was recommended to us. After biking the C&O canal, we decided to stop by and glad we did. My daughter and I thought our dishes were delicious. I got their Chicken Baltimore that had their crab dip on top of chicken breast. I will rate it a 9/10 and it was so yum I cleaned my whole plate even though I was so full! My daughter thought the burnside panini was really good too, gave it a 10/10, and didn’t notice the spice until after she devoured the whole sandwich (her spice tolerance is very low; it has pepper jack cheese & chipotle sauce). We will definitely be back to try other menu items we were curious to try.

Nikki is the bomb!!! She knows what I want to eat before I do and has my cocktail waiting on me. She makes the experience so much better.

A fantastic small-town bar about a 5-minute drive from the Antietam Battlefield. We enjoyed a burger and a salmon BLT. On Mondays the bar hosts trivia night so there are several reserved tables, but always room at the bar. I'm glad we ate here. We were famished after spending a day in the sun at the Battlefield and needed a close place to recharge. Stop in for a bite - you won't regret it!

Ordered chicken tenders and fries, 5 tenders 2 were raw in the center and probably 3 but I ate it before catching it. Fries were very old and greasy. Too bad it’s a nice place atmosphere wise.

Food was so so. Pulled pork didn't taste good, but the chicken tenders were tasty. Atmosphere was dark.

What a great place. Love the small pubs and taverns. Hamburger was great. Love the real potato French fries. Burn side panini was to die for. Don’t pass this place up.

Found this place by accident. A couple of motorcycles were parked out front, so we knew they had good food. We enjoyed the atmosphere and food was delicious.
