Going to Nutter's is like taking a step back in time. The staff is very friendly and heavy handed on the scoops! This is the best value ice cream in the area. I highly recommend always stopping in for a scoop or two after hiking the near by Appalachian trail, Washington monument, or after exploring the nearby Crystal Grottoes Caverns. We came in with a crowd of 9 (mostly kids) and they didn't bat an eye. They were super friendly and got everyone sorted out quickly. I highly recommend the Peppermint Stick and the Rainbow was equally recommended by the kids.
