Mandalay Restaurant & Cafe

Probably my favorite restaurant in the DMV. Large vegan menu with lots of delicious options (V12 is the best IMO). Absolute must visit.

Drove all the way across the city to come and was not disappointed. Love the mixed noodle salad most of all. Wonderful, treasure of a restaurant.

AND it's a carryout now open everyday but Mondays, closed between meals and closed early at 9 (9:30 on weekends)

they are back in their old building. but it was vacant for so long, and they're not using the whole room anymore... it's got kindof a popup vibe.

Love Mandalay. (1) Not a lot of Burmese places around here; (2) the food; (3) nice, welcoming folks. Cuisine offers diverse flavors--some which Washington stuck-ups might balk at... like sour mustard greens, appropriately hot/spicy dishes.

For vegetarians (they can not fish sauce, and will probably even ask you), the ginger salad, and Mandalay tofu are must dishes every time. The coconut rice on coconut rice night. Plenty of dishes to work your way through, no 2 visits need be the same.

This is my FAVORITE restaurant on planet earth. I have never had a bad dish, and I've had hundreds. I adored the owners and everyone who works here. We even were going to have them cater our wedding (but wedding location changed to Midwest)

We stopped here on a Friday evening to learn they only do carryout on the weekends, which was a bit surprise but whatever. We grabbed a beef curry, pork curry, and a flat noodle dish to go and devoured everything at some of the outdoor seating near Ellsworth Place. Everything was super spicy and very delicious. Zero complaints on the food, some of the better Burmese food I've had.

They we’re fixing the road in front and hard to find on the map. But that was an opportunity to enjoy a very delicious meal in a quiet atmosphere. What a fabulous place and a great find. Wonderful host and talented cook.

The service was great and the food was delicious. Ask your server for recs- there are a lot of options! Portions are generous We enjoyed the samosa salad and a noodle/tofu/peanut dish which was perfect in the heat. We got mild heat and everything had a nice kick and flavor to it.

Amazing food, chill atmosphere, the kind ladies who were working were very courteous. Their gyudon and Ethiopian tea were amazing. They don’t have too many seats so it may be better to order takeaway when it does get busy, but sitting down and enjoying the cute presentation makes this place the best place for brunch.

Great restaurant with exceptional service. Purple Line construction has temporarily made it a bit trickier to get to, but it's absolutely worth the effort (and if folks don't support them now, they won't last until the streets become easy to navigate again.

We love dining at Mandalay. The food is always delicious. The service is great, and our child loves eating here. They have a great variety of vegetarian options, including being able to sub tofu for many dishes not on the dedicated menu.
