The Sunday special was excellent and very well good. The tamarind based fish curry was super flavourful. Portion size was good

Get the Sunday special slow cooked dark chicken. The chicken was so well cooked and the flavour of the curry was delicious. Fish in tamarind sauce was also very good and tender. Portion size was good enough

If you like interesting, delicious food... Go here!! Spicy, flavor packed. Possibly the best restaurant in Silver Spring. The pickled mango dishes are always mouth watering. Green tea salad is bitter in a good way.Yelp messed up my order and they were incredibly understanding (I advise calling them to order directly though).

Very disappointed for first time experience. My friend and I arrived at the location and the restaurant looks like it was decorated from a thrift store. The menu was HUGE like reading a magazine and the waitresses were aggressive about taking our order asap because a big party was coming. We put in drinks and apps and not more than 5 min passed the waitress said you "need to order NOW" she said I will help you pick and took our menus and said what she reccommended based on meat. I never had such an experience before. I would get if we were wasting like an half hour deciding but we were there for 10 min and already ordered items that haven't arrived yet. She FORCED us to order and made it clear a big party was coming later. We were not the only people there but were the only ones seemingly getting the bum rush. When we sat there and left before anyone else when we ARRIVED!! Glad other got to make an informed decision in that place. THEN, the waitress comes back and makes me pack up my food she insisted on helping put my food in my container and spills the pork in my noodle dish on the ground and just says sorry. Also I ordered not super spice and it was bland as hell...it doesn't mean NO FLAVOR! Won't becoming back and if they don't want people to eat there during a big event THEN CLOSE FOR THE DAY OR SAY NO RESERVATIONs. Food tasted decent when I put my own chili garlic oil on it

Im so glad I found this place. Im a newcomer to Burmese Cuisine but I have already ordered half of the menu. The food at this place is amazing. Its really a treat to be able to purchase such authentic, plentiful and skillfully crafted dishes. Every plate I have purchased here has been immaculate. I love the fact that they have plenty of SPICY dishes. Thank you so much for existing. See you next week.

The pork curries with pickled mango or sour mustard are some of my favorite hearty dishes in the DMV area.

The food here is stellar. I love spicy food, and they offer food that is actually spicy. Not American levels of spice. Actually spicy. Of course you can also get it not spicy, as they offer a sliding scale of spice levels. Every dish I’ve gotten here has been very delicious. They’ve got many delicious vegetarian options. Portions are large. Staff are friendly and food comes out quick. There is minimal indoor seating, so I mostly order takeout.

So happy Mandalay did not permanently shut down. Wonderful Burmese food. The green tea leaf salad is a must, and large enough for two people. My husband always gets the tofu and tomato hin (V2) with a medium spice level (which is quite hot, so be warned). I tried the nanjee gyaw (N5) noodle dish with pork, which was huge (had to take half home). Loved the thick sauce and soft noodles. The interior has changed quite a bit; the booths are gone and there are fewer tables, more spaced out. Only half the restaurant is used for seating, but it filled up pretty quickly after noon on a Sunday. Only open for dine-in for lunch, no longer dinner. That's OK. I'll take Mandalay however we can; just happy they're still around.

Must try Pork Belly Hin : Outstanding dish in Mandalay restaurant. 10 out of 10 $24.99 = worthwhile every dollar. Giant pork belly pieces simmer in onions curry sauce. So delicious : Tender belly : ratio fat & meat perfect. Curry flavor tasted savory &nicely. This is the Heaven of Belly lover. Service is fine - inside restaurants is quite simple. Only location is a cons. Environment seem frustrated. (downtown Silver Spring, MD) There is construction around the area for a long time, also limit parking. Please be prepared about it if you want to dining.

Five stars for the food. Just know they have no dine-in service Friday through Sunday. Carryout

The food and service here have always been really good. We’ve been here several times and loved them before they closed down, so I’m very glad to see that they’ve reopened. The price is extremely reasonable for the portion, and the food is amazing. Nothing is too spicy, salty or greasy. And the service has always been very friendly and attentive. Some people have complained that the environment seems “cheap” for the price you pay, but I disagree. It’s obvious that they put attention and effort into their food and service rather than making the place fancy and uncomfortable. The whole experience is very welcoming, comforting and satisfying, I’d definitely keep coming back.

Mandalay has been our favorite restaurant in Maryland since the early 2000s. The quality of the food is always outstanding and the combination of taste textures are simply amazing. Joe the owner has an amazing memory and over all these years he knows exactly what we're going to order as soon as we sit down or call in our take out order. Granted Burmese food is very different than any other cuisine common but give it a chance and you will be very pleased I assure you.Parking: They only have about 10 spots, however, since COVID takeout has become a significant part of their business and there's not that many tables in the restaurant we always find parking.

Simply the best restaurant in Silver Spring. Try the #6 Noodles with chicken or Tofu. The #1 Soup is outstanding, with noodles, chicken and mushrooms in a wonderful fragrant rich broth. This place is family-run, not a chain, and highly recommended. Try it and you'll want to come back!
