They have great food and average service. The only thing that I didn’t enjoy was it was cold like hell. The heater was turned off beside that it was nice

Sheger Spring Ethiopian Restaurant, Bar and Cafe is an amazing place with delicious, authentic food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Everything was fresh and full of flavor, and the coffee was excellent.

After a bad cup of coffee down the street (Café K), Sheger Spring was a lifesaver. It’s a bit pricier for a smaller cup, but you absolutely get what you pay for. The coffee is fresh, strong, and bold—exactly what I wanted.

This is a great spot in Silver Spring with authentic Ethiopian food and rich, comforting flavors. I called this restaurant twice to place an order, and both times the lady on the phone hung up on me while I was talking. She didn’t even try to help or solve the customer’s issue, and her attitude was very unprofessional. I couldn’t finish my order because of the way I was treated. I hope they improve their customer service.

I was at Sheger to get the special beef combo (kebet). When I first entered the restaurant, there were no clean tables, so I just sat at a random unclean table. After that, no one greeted me or took my order for more than 20 minutes, and all the chairs were unorganized. After a long wait, someone finally came to take my order, but he didn’t clean the dirty table. When my friends arrived, the food finally came, but we received the wrong order. We had to put napkins on the table to avoid getting our clothes dirty. Overall, the service was really bad. They need to work on it unless they want to push their customers away.

I had a very disappointing experience here. After my meal, I wrote in and signed for a specific tip amount (20%) but when I checked my bank statement later, the total charge was higher than what I authorized. The server had added an extra tip (20%) after I signed the receipt.

This is completely unacceptable and feels like a breach of trust. I’ve contacted the restaurant and my bank to dispute the charge. I hope management takes this seriously and reviews their staff and billing practices so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

We waited more than 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. During that time, there were four servers standing behind the bar watching soccer and completely ignoring the guests. I eventually had to go up and place the order myself. After that, we waited nearly an hour before the food finally arrived. The staff showed no sense of urgency or concern for the customers. The lack of customer service was unbelievable, no check-ins, no refills, not even an apology for the long wait. The overall experience was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Definitely not a place I would recommend or return to.
