Highly recommend this spot! My absolute favorite item on the menu was the Veggie Shitto Flatbread—it has plantain on it and it’s heavenly.
Come hungry, because the portion sizes are generous—you definitely get your money’s worth. The service was attentive and friendly, and the ambiance is adorable (drums as chairs? Yes please!).
Here’s what I ordered:
• Shitto Flatbread – 5/5 🌟 (must-try)
• Olehleh Black-Eyed Pea Tamales – 2/5 (not my fave)
• Jollof Couscous – 5/5
• Yassa (Fish) – 6/5 🤯 (seriously, it was that good)
Can’t wait to go back!

Good food and culture
Fantastic place and atmosphere and amazing food, particularly good for vegetarians and vegans! We always come all the way down from DC to enjoy this great food. Early lunch on Sundays you basically get restaurant all for yourself!

I love love love Mansa. It's Takoma Park's hidden gem. The servers are wonderful, the owner of the restaurant is super charming. The food is incredible! Gambian-Senegalese. I ALWAYS order the Benachin Chicken.

The food was absolutely fantastic. I’ve heard of peanut butter soup but never tried it. I had no clue what to expect. All I have to say is that I was more than pleasantly surprised. I will definitely be going back.

We have eaten here several times. The food is good and staff are friendly. The place is nicely decorated. The one complaint is that it is freezing inside during winter and hot in summer. Dress accordingly.

We went on a Sunday afternoon, this food is delicious. I’m Nigerian and never tried Gambian food, some similarities but man this food was DELICIOUS.
There was only one server and then there was a rush but she made it work.
Overall, a worthwhile experience and delicious food.

Lived around the corner for a number of years and Mansa Kunda is probably what I miss most in Takoma Park. People here are commenting about parking - it’s a non-issue because you can street park for free right by the restaurant on Erie Ave or Kennebec Ave. I hope the owner and his family are well - this is such a nice spot and I miss all of their dishes.
As a first-time visitor, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food, the attentiveness of the service, and the overall ambiance of the establishment. Everything was truly top-notch. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to speak with the owner. It's clear that he is passionate about his restaurant, and that the enthusiasm shines through in every aspect of the dining experience.
