I’ve been wanting to check out this place for a while. Not only today have fantastic Matcha, they also sell herbs and spices. I ordered the banana pudding Matcha in the strawberry Matcha. It was really delicious, and I rather drive for 15 minutes to here than get Matcha from Starbucks. It was really yummy.

I highly recommend if you want to try something new and local to the area.

This fantastical place looks like something out of a magazine! They give you samples upon arrival and every single one was delicious. Definitely do NOT just show up randomly without a plan because it is VERY easy to buy and buy and buy some more!

Cup of Sugar Tea Lounge is a wonderful family-owned spot with an awesome vibe for a date, friendly hangout, or even a professional meet-up. I loved the relaxing atmosphere, the wide selection of loose teas, and the unique oils and vitamins/supplements available throughout the lounge. Everything felt welcoming, thoughtful, and high quality. Definitely a place I’ll be visiting again.

As a first time visitor I was well pleased. It's such a cute place. Bri was super helpful, polite, and well versed on the teas. The atmosphere is welcoming and the tea was delicious 😋. I hope the community supports this business. I will be visiting frequently.

Staff is very professional and attentive. The appetizers presented on the charcuterie board are delicious. The teas are amazing. My personal favorite is the mango tea. The lounge has a nice vibe to it, not like a typical lounge or restaurant. It is very relaxing, like being at home with your closest friends/family.

This place is My Cup of Tea. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Cup of Sugar Tea Lounge. This walk-in, seat yourself diner vibe ends at the front door. After walking in its like entering into a whole new world. The outside does not prepare you for what you are going to experience on the inside. Was greeted at the door with high energy partly due to a birthday party however one of the attendants greeted us and shared that we may seat ourselves wherever we would like, peruse the menu, and visit the counter to order when ready.

All staff members checked on us throughout our visit. The attention made us feel special, valued. Even though a party was in full swing, they never allowed us to feel unattended in the least. The experience was personable and professional yet in a relaxed way. I'm guessing that's the lounge feel bolstering upscale vibes and service. I have already started recommending to friends and family. Now I'm recommending to all. All it takes is one visit and you, too, will be hooked. Already planning my next visit even though I bought all the teas we had to prepare at home. Teas taste the same, going back for the experience.

I had the Passion Fruit Chai (tea of the day) warm with Mango Boba. Delish! Friends had the Butterfly Pea Flower and Hibiscus Heaven. All were a hit and available to purchase. The mini plates and desserts were a nice addition as well.

My daughter gives the experience a 10/10 and is looking to celebrate her birthday with a tea party here as well.

Thank you everyone at A Cup of Sugar for a wonderful experience. Looking forward to my next visit.

I gave myself a week off work for self-care, and today led me to Cup of Sugar Tea Lounge in Waldorf. As a British woman, tea is never just tea. It’s ritual. It’s comfort. It’s what we reach for in a crisis, in celebration, in grief. You “put the kettle on” before you even know what you’re feeling.

Walking into this space, I immediately felt something familiar, but not in the way I expected. It’s not British, and it’s not trying to be. Instead, it’s something just as intentional: a soft, feminine, grown woman sanctuary.

Think velvet chairs, chandeliers, florals, and that quiet kind of beauty that invites you to sit down and stay a while. The atmosphere was calm and soulful, Erykah Badu playing softly in the background, aromatherapy in the air, and a sense that no one is rushing you out the door. It felt like the kind of “she shed” Jody’s mama would have wanted when she wasn’t tending to her garden.

I went alone, mid afternoon on a Tuesday, and it was quiet in the best way. Not empty, peaceful. The kind of place where Black women come to breathe, reset, and just be.

Now, the tea. I wasn’t sure they’d have anything I recognized, but they went out of their way to find me an Irish breakfast tea and it was excellent. The beautiful young woman serving me offered to add the milk, which was thoughtful, but as any Brit will tell you, that’s a very personal decision. The milk-to-tea ratio can make or break the entire experience, so I appreciated being able to pour my own.

I had it with a banana nut muffin, which was delicious, and stayed just long enough to fully unwind.

The only small notes, and these are very much from a British tea purist perspective, are the details that make tea feel like ritual to us Brits. Sugar packets instead of sugar cubes or in a bowl, and no proper spoon for that familiar metal on ceramic stir. Tiny things, and honestly not a big deal, but they’re part of the sensory experience we’re used to.

That said, this place isn’t trying to replicate a British tea room, and it shouldn’t. What it offers is something different and equally valuable: a space that feels intentional, peaceful, and deeply restorative.

I will absolutely be back. Not just for the tea, but for the feeling.
