We needed dessert after dinner and we had heard about Ben & Bill’s Emporium so off we went. It’s a small place right on Main Street in downtown Bar Harbor so it’s really convenient. There are really too many choices here and it was a bit overwhelming in a sick, wonderful display of too many good things and the epitome of a life well lived. If you can envision a confection Ben & Bills has it! We settled for fresh ice cream and wish we had gotten fudge and/or toffee to go. The flavors are amazing. The only thing we didn’t like was being shuttled through like cattle with pressure to make your selections quickly so they can serve more people. We get it though. It’s an iconic tourist destination in Bar harbor so we’re understanding. You’ve gotta try it the next time you’re in Bar Harbor!

Their lobster ice cream is delicious, don’t miss it when you come here, and their lobster rolls are also delicious.

The atmosphere was kind of unsettling. I was bussled through a narrow hall and hurried along. It was confusing about what to do and how to order candy and nobody explained anything. Candy was stale/old and two small ice-creams were 20 bucks. Mabe that is expected as a tourist shop but it was a lot.

Ordered a scoop of the Chewy Gooey Chocolate and a scoop of Cookie Dough Ice Cream in a waffle bowl. A LOT more satisfying than the look on my face in this photo 🤣. Waffle bowl was perfect!

Vegetarian options: I did not see any meat in any of the ice cream so it must all be vegetarian friendly🤭

Butter pecan, blueberry, and chocolate peanut butter cookie dough were all really good. We got to the shop around 8:30pm- saying this because I read that they don’t allow samples after a certain time but I overheard a worker on my way out that you’re allowed up to two samples. I tried the lobster ice cream- tasted like buttery vanilla ice cream with chunks of salty frozen lobster. It’s not something to order a scoop of but definitely worth a try. Line was wrapped around inside the store but it moved quickly.

Loved the almond gelato, the butter ice cream was quite bland though.

2 small ice creams in a #1 waffle cone = $26.00, crazy over priced

I like this place! much better quality! They make it all in house, which explains the price, so overall this place is great!
