I have been traveling to Belgrade Lakes for 27 years and while we are in residence at our family camp I have never missed an opportunity to dine at The Village Inn. I have frequented the restuarant while owned by Charlie and now by Kate many times and just this year I also had the wonderful opportunity to spent the night in one of the rooms. Kate is an attentive owner, a person who is deeply connected to Belgrade Lakes and the Village Inn and she has almost single handedly improved everything about this Inn. Recently two new chefs, Josh and Christian have joined her and the food produced by these two chefs is simply stunning. All of the items of food that arrived at our table was quite simply delicious and beautifully served.
The first meal I had this year was a Ceasar Salad for starters, which was one of the best Ceasars I have had in a very long time and for my entree I order the Scallop Risotto. The scallops were beautifully seared and the risotto was hot and creamy. The meal was absolutely delicious, the service on point, the dining room and tables clean and well appointed and the view from the dining room, as usual, was delightful.
The second meal I had at the Village Inn was the Lobster Roll and I honestly think that this lobster roll is one of the best offered in Maine. I am not a lobser with mayonnaise fan and the Village lobster roll is not that at all. This is a roll that is packed with fresh lobster with very little if any dressing, aside from fresh lemon, and served on a soft split bun with fries on the side. This lobster roll is a must do and I have at least one Village Inn lobster roll every summer that I come to Maine. I recommend this lobster roll to any and all who want the real deal lobster roll.
I also had the opportunity to spend the night in one of the rooms at the Inn. I am a bit of a self confessed linen freak and the accommodations were absolutely to my liking. The bed and pillows incredibly comfortable, the linens and towels were fresh and white and the room was spotless. I liked that the floors were hard wood and not carpet which in my opinion, is always gross in any hotel or Inn. Also the water pressure in the shower was wonderful and strong and the water hot.
My experience at The Village Inn was absolutely outstsanding and I wholeheartedly recommend The Village Inn for great food, great service and a wonderful nights sleep.

Stayed here with two friends in September 2024. We had the best time! Kate (the owner)!warmly greeted us with a delicious signature cocktail with local blueberries. We sat by the lake watching the ducks & the setting sun.
Our dinner was amazing!!!!! Locally sourced and perfectly prepared by the new Chef. It was an incredible dinner of crab cakes, lobster bisque, fillet, duck (which they are known for), local veg. After dinner we were escorted outside to stargaze and saw the Aurora borealis. It was an enchanting experience.
The Inn is cozy & comfortable. The decor is perfect for a lakeside inn- plaid, camp like and so very charming. All the staff are warm & welcoming. This is the kind of place families go to every year for years & years. It is truly special. Thank you for the amazing time that we will remember for a lifetime!
Rooms: Cozy & spacious, with all the necessities.
Food and drinks: Amazing cocktails.

One of the worst meals I’ve had in a while. The Village Inn is not worth it anymore. The menu was poor, the service was slow, and the food was not fresh. I won’t ever be returning and I’ve lived in this area for 20+ years. The prices are highway robbery. More expensive than New York City, but a New York City dumpster dive would have been better!

Once again, after 20+ years of dining at The Village Inn, we were not disappointed with the anniversary dinner that we had last night! As usual, we went for the duck, and it was absolutely delicious, from the duck itself with toppings, the garlic mashed potatoes, string beans, and the amazing stuffing! As usual, we had to "waddle" out of the restaurant, pun intended! We listened as our friendly waitress read the other yummy specials, but we had our heart set on the duck!! Thank you so much for making our 44th anniversary so special!! Mike & Nancy

Been going to the Village Inn for many years. This past Wednesday we had the absolute worst service ever. Took a half hour before a server came to our table to take our drink and app order. Another 40 minutes passed. Our meal comes 1.5 hours after we sat down. The food was Luke warm at best. Two of our children got food poisoning from the clam chowder. The server only came to our table 3 times the whole night. I know it is not the servers fault. But the kitchen and management need an overhaul. Lots of money for a horrible experience.

Very worn old rooms, filthy carpet, way overpriced. No housekeeping service, requested additional coffee and wash cloths for 2nd night and as of 8:30 pm still not delivered. ADA room had no grab bar in bath/ shower, no handheld shower so my Husband could not bathe. Breakfast was supposed to be served at 8:30 am and no one was even in the building yet at that time. Paid $391 per night with taxes. Location was perfect for us with access to family reunion on the lake!
Dinner food was excellent, had the duck. Dining service was excellent! Enjoyed the guitar singer outside.

We've been coming here for many years now. They have great duck, salmon, and lobster bisque. The service was a bit slow but it was also packed with guests. There were two live performances going on, one inside and one outside. A great place to make memories with your friends and family.

Really wanted to have a great experience. I love to cook and appreciate great food. So disappointed. Went with our island neighbors by boat, I first had a bad taste by no one answering phone for two days I tried to call, left a message and no one called back.
Second ; the waitstaff was really inattentive and she had maybe 3 tables at most. Didn't tad off specials until after she asked if we wanted to order then just listed filet, tuna etc. not what they were not what it came with nothing. Didnt pay attention to drinks needing filled etc.
the food well, the appetizer was a joke as far as how to eat the olives. This really should come as aground olives mixed with a feta style cheese and then drizzled with olive oil so that you can spread onto eh lovely focaccia bread. Taste was meh at best warm olives swimming in a tasteless oil that you couldn't even put onto the bread.
The meals the Marte seafood was plentiful but zero flavor. This place needs to get it together when dinner is close to $200 for two people with one drink each an app and two entrees. Not impressed. The dock and dine is very unappealing. The docks are broken down junk and the " picnic tables " literally with chipped paint sit on the water. You need to step it up for what you charge. They have a gold mine waiting but they are missing the boat ( no pun) 100%

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner tonight! The new chef is very impressive. I highly recommend the duck with a side of walnut stuffing. From the shrimp cocktail to the flourless chocolate torte, everything was delicious. Our service was great, too!

We just went to the Tavern. We didn't stay at the Inn.
The Salmon with cold couscous was frozen in center, not just raw, frozen. It was served with “apricot” couscous because it had three whole dried fruit apricots out of the package mixed in with the couscous. The drinks were very weak, if any alcohol at all. We waited over an hour and a half for or meals. Upon sitting down we did not have a waitress visit us during the first half hour except the water boy who kept filling our glasses. The greeter finally came over and saw we only had water and asked us if our waitress had been over at all and went to get our drinks and find our appetizer which was soggy cold “taco” potatoes chips by the time it was served to us. My Son asked for a second drink when served his food but the waitress did not bring it. She noticed when picking up our plates and went to get it for him after telling him it was not on the house. We have no idea why she made that comment no one asked for anything at no cost. Then when she delivered the drink she brought our check too because their waiting area was backed up. We miss the Village Inn of 6 years ago so sad to watch this place just slowly go downhill. Such a great location, I think the location is the only draw and we just keep hoping something will change.

Heartbreaking because i used to love this place, but its not what it was. Went in tonight and the AC was broken, so it was like a stuffy sauna. Is it that hard to fix it? They moved us outside, but it was like a daycare center. Not great to pay $50 per plate with kids kicking soccer balls around you. Would it be so hard to designate an area for a playground? Even McDonalds does that! The mgmt is simply not thinking about this. Probably skipping next summer sadly.
