“Every trip to Eastport is a treasure in itself but The Waco Diner is our favorite stop. Delicious food whether it’s off the menu or one of Chef Steves special weekly creations. Breakfast features their overstuffed omelets, Blueberry Pancakes and more. The lunch menu is huge featuring delicious sandwiches, seafood and salads! Dinner is spectacular with nightly specials as in TexMex & Chef Steves Seafood & Steak Entrees. Full bar from open till close with the outside deck having one of the best views on the island. “I had the best lobster roll ever. There was a huge claw piece on top of the roll and it was beautiful! It was very tasty and filling. My husband had clam chowder and it was flavorful and loaded with clams! Topped off dinner with freshly made wild Maine blueberry pie with ice cream. It’s worth the drive from Georgia just for this meal! The staff was very friendly, checked on us frequently and made sure we had what we wanted.“

“Finding a good seafood restaurant between Machias & Calais is surprisingly difficult.Lubec & Eastport have a couple but they range from downright awful to just ok.The New Friendly Restaurant is excellent.I had the fish chowder & battered fried clams.My husband had the batter fried scallops.I’ll start with the chowder. I come from a long line of ME cooks.I grew up eating & making chowder & arguing about the best way to make chowder. I’m very fussy about my chowder 😂 The chowder I ate here was perfect. Nothing but milk, fish, potato & seasoning.The fish was fresh & in large pieces like it should be & the potatoes were well cooked & not mushy. My clams had a lovely fluffy batter-full belly of course.And my husband’s scallops were huge and very fresh.The prices were quite reasonable for the amount of food we received.I’m in the area for another couple of days and will likely go back-it’s that good. Highly recommend, especially the chowder!“

“Ocean View Takeout is the best ! Visited Aug1 while on Deere Island. There were 4 of us and our food was excellent. (Have been to the …Digger in St Andrews which I would rate a 4/10. In 2025) Ocean View is by far superior in quality of their food. Burger and fries were the best we have had this season !! and we are foodie critics. Keep it up Ocean View . We will be back the next long weekend !!“

“The owner and staff are pure gold! We were unexpectedly without hotel accommodations on the first night of a 3 day motorcycle tour. We were late comers in their door close to closing time to figure out what to do. They graciously welcomed us in, quickly provided us with hot coffee and delicious beef stew AND MORE IMPORTANTLY made our situation their problem to fix. After a flurry of leads and suggestions from everyone next thing you know we had a place to stay and it was beautiful! They were our angels that night!“
