Mid food. The service was really good unlike the food. The ambiance was amazing unlike the food.

A-maze-ing. Fantastic job! A couple of the chefs came out to check to see how we liked things. Friends had the pork chops. Loved them. We had scallops and eggplant meat balls. Scallops perfectly cooked, mushrooms and citrus. Eggplant meatballs fun and interesting. Citrusy undertones on a lot of the dishes including brussel sprouts. Not sure if that was the theme that night or their style. Good beer and wine selection. I would take off a 1/2 star for server not knowing much about pairings with beer or wine, but I ran into that a lot in Maine (can't ask so much from seasonal help I guess). And it took a little too long to get food going. But that's being nit-picky. Great job guys! I hope you stick around.

Wonderful food and space. As vegetarian/ pescatarian the menu was a little limited for us but they were very accommodating and everything we did have was delicious, we will definitely be back.

I had dinner there each of the last 2 night while in the area for work. The food is absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend to anyone. Natasha is a great addition to the staff! Sincerely Shawn Howard

My husband and I had dinner here last night. The food was delicious, the staff were very welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. Oh yes and they make a very delicious Lemondrop Martini.

We were staying at Under Canvas, about 10 minutes from Ellsworth and were looking for something nearby instead of driving into Bar Harbor. This little gem was such a surprise in the best way. I ordered two cocktails, one from the menu and one traditional. Both were made well. My husband and I started with the peach and burrata appetizer with toasted bread. That was delicious. The bread was perfect for dipping into the sauce of the appetizer. For entree we both had pasta and they were delicious with well developed flavor. Portion size was perfect, not too big or small. We finished with the chocolate mousse and wow...that caramel miso sauce on top was out of this world. Would absolutely recommend this place and their reservation system is super easy to use.

Bartender was delightful and helpful. Food was interesting, delicious and beautifully prepared (halibut)seemed to be popular with local crowd.

My wife likes this place. Located in a former wine and cheese bistro, this restaurant has had many iterations. This one is just as good as those that found a home here in years passed. Again, my wife likes to dine here as she thinks that the aesthetic is authentic and romantic. I don't agree but the food is good enough to eat there. It is a fine place for a romantic dinner in Ellsworth but much of that is because there are few other options. I wish that the restaurant pushed itself as it can aspire to be more.

Wife and I got the crab reuben, hangar steak, sweet potato tots, and a blueberry yuzu parfait. Our server was a sweet and funny woman. The food was creative, well presented, and tasty. We got lucky as walk-ins, but it seemed like reservations were the norm. Cool place for sure.

Dinner on a Friday night in August. Game on. First impressions. First, there was a refundable fee to make a reservation, $25 pp, so my antenna was up. We live in the Boston area and eat out quite a bit, we only see this at the occasional high demand restaurants. I am now expecting greatness. Second, host who was at the door, note I did not say "who greeted us" looked up from whatever he was reading with a "and what do you want? " look. He was not a welcoming guy. Our servers, however, were really knowledgeable and friendly. Well done. Food was hit and miss. Hits- beet salad and lamb dumplings. Delicious! Miss- the duck. tough and chewy. Likely just a bad piece of duck. Dessert was a hit, chocolate mousse. Creamy, well flavored. Atmosphere is warm and inviting, more casual than formal. Water bottle on the table was a nice touch. Overall very good.

Food and adult beverages were fantastic. Service was fantastic. We were seated right by the door, so every person entering and exiting the building had to walk right by us. It just took away from the ambiance. Had we been seated elsewhere, I'm sure I would have left a 5 star rating.

We made reservations on a whim, after walking by this restaurant and being intrigued. The walls are all covered in cool carved wood- looked liked 1920's bohemian (ish). We were so glad we did!The food was interesting and delicious. Our Cocktails were unique, I hade a rum and lychee drink that was Not sweet-yeah! Mark had a tequila and habanero concoction that had just the right heat. We had the most incredible sweet potato /Korean pork/Kimchee cojito dish. Somehow the flavors all came together magnificently. I got a killer burger on a gluten free bun, Mark ate the best Crab Cake Ruben on grilled Rye bread, and wanted to move here-lol.

The place is cute and atmospheric. The online reservations was awry for me because I didn't catch that you have to scroll down to see if you want bar or table. I didn't want bar. The real problem was the site says vegan options and the online has them. However, when we went there was ONLY a Brussels sprout starter! Zero options, vegan or even vegetarian. We got a drink and left

Son researched restaurants and bought his Father a gift certificate for here since we were vacationing in the area. Made a reservation - who charges for that ???They Do !!! Had to cancel due to emergency . Tried to use it for take out , no luck there . Called twice , no return calls as we could not do on line order , only with a credit card . Who closes on a holiday - They do 4 th of July !!! Last effort to use , called half hour out, no return call. Showed up , we're told they couldn't do a $100 gift certificate Take out order , said twice " we can do it later ", without saying when ,already going for 7 pm . Said I would like a refund then . No way was that an option as who ever heard of charging $25 a person to even make an appointment . Sorry I can't rate the food as I never got to eat it !!!

Tried this place on a whim, and without a reservation (which i don't recommend). We came on a Wednesday evening and the hostess was clearly unhappy we didn't have a reservation as they were pretty busy. We were still seated quickly but it took our server a bit to realize we were there. With that said, once our server came over we had quick and friendly service. The place is on the smaller side and a bit loud, but nicely decorated and had an initiate feel despite the volume. Everything we tried was very flavorful and tasty. The portion sizes in my opinion were a bit small for the price but the food was still worth it. Overall I recommend the place but do think reservations are needed.
