My only criticism would be is not to buy the Gin & Tonic, from a can, not good at all, however food made up for it in so many ways

This is a good place to come for Indian style food. The food has great flavors and very modern style look. The service was great too was seated within seconds of coming in. Food came out hot and fast. Would recommend coming here early tho as it is a popular local spot.

My review is about so called Sri Lankan foods at the restaurant. We tried chicken curry, yellow fin tuna curry, mushroom curry, pork curry, egg plant moju and jackfruit curry with rice. As a Sri Lankan who have ate Sri Lankan foods entire my life I must say this restaurant’s food is not even closely Sri Lankan. Jackfruit curry tasted nothing like jackfruit curry, Tuna curry was undercooked and we could still see the red blood inside, mushroom curry just tasted like mushroom in a water bowl. Chicken curry and pork curry not even closely tasted like the real Sri Lankan chicken or pork curry. It was completely a disaster I experienced. Not recommending as a Sri Lankan food restaurant at all. If you want to taste actual Sri Lankan food do not even think about going to this place
This review is coming from a Sri Lankan, and I am absolutely appalled by the so-called “authentic” Sri Lankan food at Serandip. Let me tell you, the taste and preparation don’t even come close to real Sri Lankan cuisine. If you’re looking for authentic Sri Lankan flavors, avoid this place at all costs. This isn’t just bad food, this is the WORST Sri Lankan food I’ve ever had!
We ordered a variety of dishes—jackfruit, pork, beef, mushroom, eggplant, and tuna—and everything was an absolute disaster. The tuna was practically raw, not even cooked properly! And all of this for over $120 worth of food. It was beyond disgusting. I don’t understand how they can proudly display the Sri Lankan flag when they serve food like this. Honestly, they should remove it—this place is a disgrace to Sri Lankan cuisine!

We tried Serendib in Ellsworth for lunch today and it was a smash hit. The samosas with chutney were delicious, and our butter chicken was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The standout for us was the Sri Lankan beef curry. It was fantastic, tender and with a variety of spices that made me ask for a recipe. Delicious food and good service.

I've had Indian food in many places, many many times. My curry came with rice and paneer, period. My server said it was traditional not to have any vegetables in the curry. WHAT?? I ordered medium. I love spicy but this was too hot to eat. The samosa skin was like a philo dough and crackly. I could go on but essentially I'm saying I don't know where all these 5 star reviews are coming from.

Loved it. I had never tried Indian or Sri Lanka food. It was delicious.
Simply great food. We had the pork and beef curry, both were amazing.
Be careful with your spicy level though, our medium was certainly enough to make us sweat.

The food here is unique. I wouldn't say it's bad but not my preference for Indian cuisine.

Sri Lankan fried rice was okay. Naan, samosas, pork curry, jackfruit curry, and paneer curry were a huge turn off for us. Avoid this place if you are looking for authentic Sri Lankan food. We spent more than $85.

We had lunch here today and it was delicious… samosas appetizer, Sri Laken curry with lamb meatballs, tandoori chicken, and beet salad side dish. We are camping in Sullivan, about a half hour drive away, and will be returning for another meal before we head home. Wish there was a restaurant like this where we live in NC!
We stopped in and didn’t have reservations so we got it to go. I am so glad we did! Some of the best Indian food I’ve had! Gotta give it a shot. The gentleman running the front of the house was fantastic as well.

Rare to have a place with more than one vegan option in Ellsworth so that is reason enough to visit this place. The staff was friendly and helpful with making sure my order was vegan. Theres three options: Singaporean curry, madras curry and jackfruit curry. Sadly, the flavors were not impressive which is a shame. But I would recommend it to support a business who is making sure there’s a place for vegans to eat! FYI, they serve a raita sauce with the vegan dishes which is not vegan!
We were on our way to another restaurant, but we decided to stop in on a whim, since we hadn't had Indian food in a while. We were seated quickly with no reservation, and the service was ok.
We ordered samosas, and the flavor was good, but we thought the filling was a bit thin, and we didn't care for the phyllo wrapping. It crumbled in our hands, but we couldn't get into it with a fork and knife due to the texture of the pastry. The peas inside were also undercooked. And I don't understand the logic of having only 3 samosas as your portion when you're generally seating 2-4 people at a table. The chutney served on the side was good.
I ordered the Indian butter sauce at maximum spice level with mushrooms as my protein. My boyfriend ordered the same sauce, same spice, with chicken. We are no strangers to Indian food or to spice. My sauce had no real savor or flavor to it other than being very spicy. My boyfriend's sauce was a different color, and it didn't taste even nearly the same. It was less spicy, but even more bland. You wouldn't have known we ordered the same sauces at all. Both entrees were served with a tiny portion of rice that was slightly undercooked. Neither of us ended up eating much.
The overall vibe is as if someone went to a yoga retreat in Bombay once and decided to open an Indian restaurant. We wish we'd said, "That's ok, we'll go elsewhere," as soon as we were asked if we had a reservation at the door.
