Food has zero seasoning. Had to add salt just to have it taste something. Took the hot hamburg plater. Canned greens and watery mash potatoes. Mom's liver was over cooked and back in some spots. Surprisingly took longer than expected to get our food considering the restaurant was practically empty. Waitress was really and friendly but that's all I can say that was good. Bench seating needs to be changed. The was I was sat at was very used and cracking a lot.

Was hoping for a decent meal for the hugely overpriced items on the menu but turns out to be just another hog trough truck stop dinner. It would have been easier if the waitress would’ve highlighted what items they had then verbally go over an enormous list of the food items that did not have. Most everything was microwaved and came from a freezer box I’m sure. Couldn’t understand what I was paying $40 for. Best just to catch a McDonald’s than waist your money here. People just taking advantage of tired hungry truckers.

We stopped in on our way back to Canada from Bangor. Upon our arrival, our waitress appeared to be a bit irritated, especially when we inquired about gluten-free bread.
After waiting approximately 45 minutes for our food, which is longer than usual for a Big Stop, we noticed that a couple of other tables had also been waiting. We politely asked our waitress for an update on our order. She did not stop to respond to us but as she walked past, she informed us that there was a large group ahead of us, (which we were not aware of before), and just kept walking. We understood the situation, but it would have been helpful to have had that information earlier.
Shortly after a cook from the kitchen walked out into the restaurant and yelled “people just got to be patient and if they don’t like waiting they can go to McDonald’s”…we were shocked, as were the rest of the dining patrons. If we had not had my 73 year old mother with us, we would have left and gone to mcds. When our food arrived it was alright, but not the quality we have come to know and love of Big Stops.
When we left I asked to speak to the manager, when I spoke with her she did try to act surprised that this happened however she did not appear overly concerned.
We have not experienced this situation at a Canadian Big Stop before and would expect them to show more appreciation towards the customers who choose to stop and support their business.

The food is delicious and the waitresses are friendly and efficient. I usually get breakfast since it's breakfast all day. My son prefers lunch or dinner options. We have only had good experiences at the Houlton Big Stop.
