The food was excellent, but the service was slow (possibly due to understaffing, which I understand). However, the server was incredibly rude and clearly trying to usher us out. Would recommend only for the food alone.

Food was just okay. Lobster was over cooked and chewy. Way over priced for the quality of the food and service. Would not go back.

It was a fluke we came to Mabel's, but so glad we did! Another restaurant across the road had the wrong menu on their Open Table, so we walked out and came to Mabel's. The food was so delicious, fresh, and everything you would want from Maine. The service from Jennifer, was top-notch. She was a gem and so personable and gave all the great recommendation. She was also funny and handled customers very professional! I enjoyed the Lobster Cobb, what a bang for your buck, $22 and the same amount of lobster as a sandwich for more $$$. It was so fresh the dressing was amazing, and the lobster by far was the freshest I had while visiting in Maine all week. It had that clean cold ocean taste - cannot describe it any better! My husband had the fish and chips (Haddock) and it was light, crispy and a good buy as well. We sat out on the patio as we were a walk in-no resv. it was a little chilly, but overall - a great experience!!

Dietary restrictions: Although I did not need anything Gluten free for my personal order, they offered bread and options off their main meal preparation.

The hot lobster roll was incredible, this was the first time I had one and it was a great first experience. Truly a melt-in-the-mouth experience. The accompaniments were fine but nothing to shout home about.

I didn’t try any of their famous pie unfortunately.

I was sat outside on a table for four - I did offer to sit at the bar but they were happy to sit me outside.

Parking: There is some limited free parking behind the accommodation / shops opposite. It is the far row.

Friday, October 11, 2024 - came alone no reservation, Jamaican host was very friendly and got me seated in about 15 minutes. I ordered the brussel sprouts and a haddock sandwich. Brussel sprouts were great, but Haddock had a distinct ammonia smell so I politely let them know and my server let me order a another dish. Shortly after one of the food runners let me know the chef disagreed about the fish being old and suggested I had never eaten haddock before. Well I have, I grew up in Maine and I've worked in kitchens so I know when fish is not fresh. Not the way to handle a customer complaint, regrettably. Overall, my main server Jennifer handled the situation professionally, but the food wasn't great and my lasting impression was that this place is a bit of a tourist trap.

Small and tight seating restaurant. Baked haddock was definitely fresh, and the fried clams were large belly.

Best Clam Chowder in all of New England. This must have been the sixth place I had clam chowder. Should have been sick of it, but lawd... So far above everyone else. Everything else was delicious, but I kind of wish I had just ordered multiple bowls of the chowder.

Also, Lorenzo was incredible. He's was very nice, absolutely hilarious, and the man makes a damn good old fashioned.

The place is a bit of tight fit, but it's everything you think of when you think of seaside Maine. Do it.

Even if you're ballin on a budget, at least go get the soup.
