We were able to get a dinner reservation during one of the last nights they were open for the season. It was the best meal of our entire trip! So happy we were able to catch a table before they closed down.

We had supper at the tavern. It is a very popular place. It is always full and it is difficult to make reservations. We had haddock dinner which came with 2 sides. They did not have French fries and had small roasted potatoes instead. I had the roasted potatoes and the house salad. My husband had roasted brussel sprouts which were overcooked and burnt. Although the food was good, I found it a bit overpriced: our haddock dinner was $27.99 each. The tavern is on the water and the location is good and the atmosphere is lively.

We had dinner in the tavern on 9/11/24. You do need a reservation. Such a great place. My pasta with scallops dish was the best food of my Maine trip. The scallops were cooked perfectly and there must have been 15 in my dish. A great find in such a tiny town.

The Inn and restaurant are a lovely and warm touch of sophistication in Lubec. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere casual but elegant. Owners Judy and Jim are welcoming and knowledgeable about the area and surrounding towns. We travel frequently and will return regularly to this lovely Inn And the gorgeous view from our room.
Walkability: In the center of town.
Food and drinks: Great bar and refined wine list.

This is a quaint place to stay. I believe only 2 inns in the town. Booked timely online (9 day prior to arrival) for the suite which was open at the time. Rec'd a call from the owner next day that it wasn't available and had to reserve one of the 4 rooms. The room was good for our one-night stay. Common area near the rooms was homey. Made dinner reservations (6pm, restaurant opens at 5pm) when the owner called to change our room. Was so looking forward to a wonderful dinner experience based on the atmosphere, reviews and their site. It was our last day of vacation traveling the coast of Maine. I wanted everything to be very special just as our vacation was. We were sat timely - several open tables but they filled up quickly. Menu indicated to have patience. We weren't in a rush at all and enjoyed the atmosphere plus talked about our next day heading for home. Did not order appetizers. Dinner salad was excellent - very fresh. Haddock was very good. Ribeye was good - I expected tender but more like a strip. Service was very good up to when we received our dinners then no one checked to ask if all was good or if we wanted more hot tea or anything. Servers, not ours - she had many tables to tend, passed by us several times and no one took our plates away. Owners were busy cleaning tables for the next guests. I finally went up to our server who was getting drinks at the bar and I wasn't fast enough. Owner saw me and asked what I needed, and I asked for the check. He then connected with the server and she brought over our check. She asked if we wanted dessert and we said no she had the check and walked away - didn't take our plates. My partner and I have worked / owned in the restaurant business for years - retired now. Service is critical. It's great this restaurant is busy - good for them. Our recommendation if you decide to dine here is to reserve a table when they open. We went for a nice peaceful walk after - approximately 7:50pm.

The owner and staff are pure gold! We were unexpectedly without hotel accommodations on the first night of a 3 day motorcycle tour. We were late comers in their door close to closing time to figure out what to do. They graciously welcomed us in, quickly provided us with hot coffee and delicious beef stew AND MORE IMPORTANTLY made our situation their problem to fix. After a flurry of leads and suggestions from everyone next thing you know we had a place to stay and it was beautiful! They were our angels that night!
PSA: Call and make reservations if you’d like to eat here.
We were greeted with, “Do you have reservations?” Tonight, all of their “two tops” were reserved. We asked if the bar needed reservations and she said sometimes, but not tonight. We did sit down but by this time felt the restaurant was doing us a favor by letting us sit. Just uncomfortable. We left.
Food & drinks: Never tried them. Wine list looked great.

Wonderful place for dinning in Lubec, Maine.
The food here was fantastic and reasonable priced. Bill our server went above and beyond with his service. If your coming through town, you don’t want to miss the food here. Thank you Ralph

We TRIED to have dinner here about 30 minutes before they closed. They asked if we had a reservation. We said no. They suggested seating us outside and then asked if we had jackets. None of us had a jacket. It's 80 degrees in July. Then they turned around and said if we got cold, they would not move us inside. We opted to go some place else as they clearly didn't want us there. That's bad business.

Water Street Tavern and Inn is the total package. The rooms are clean, comfortable and offer some amazing views! We stayed here many times before we purchased a home in Way Downeast! Now that we have a home in the area, we are regulars at the Tavern! We have NEVER had a bad meal or beverage here! Even better, if you are gluten free their fried scallops and fried haddock are both gluten free! There are also many other GF options on the menu beyond salad (which tends to be the only option at many establishments).
Jim and Judy are amazing hosts and their staff (who return year after year) are some of the best wait staff we have ever encountered! The service is top notch.
A piece of advice: Make a reservation!
Rooms: The rooms are impeccably clean. If you are in a suite, Jim delivers coffee, muffins and yogurt to your room each morning. If you are in the standard rooms, the same is laid out in the common area. The muffins smell delightful, the coffee is delicious and the yogurt is too! The room rates are reasonable and an amazing value for your dollar! Seriously, you can't get better views anywhere else!
Food & drinks: If you are gluten free their fried scallops and fried haddock are both gluten free! There are also many other GF options on the menu beyond salad (which tends to be the only option at many establishments). We have literally NEVER had a complaint about the food!

I’ve never been treated more rudely by a business owner, than I have by this one…multiple times, over the course of multiple years. (Shame on me for giving multiple chances) It’s too bad, because the rest of the staff is fantastic! But rest assured, I’ll never darken the doors again…and neither will several others who have been treated the same way.
Owners don’t like locals and don’t want children in their establishment.
I had a wonderful visit and the service was even better . It was recommended by some locals and they didn’t disappoint. Larry was a true gentleman and the food was the perfect addition to the views on the water ! Lubec is great!
