We both had delicious clam rolls with homemade chips. Nice draft beer selection and mixed drinks. Try The Anchor. We really appreciated the friendly staff and good service. What a pleasure! Unfortunately, we are leaving, tomorrow morning, or we’d be back again.
I'll be honest... we weren't expecting much when we walked inside. The atmosphere gives local dive bar vibes. There was only one server/bartender who was serving the entire restaurant. She did an amazing job keeping on top of everything. The food was pretty typical bar fare. I ordered a steak bomb (cheesesteak with onions, peppers, and mushrooms). While I asked for no mushrooms, it came with them anyway, but I picked them off because, ewww. My husband enjoyed his meatball...
I wonder if this was my favorite place to eat in 1965 when I was a 18 year old sailor stationed at Cutler Navy Base. I often enjoyed "dates" with local girls and before or after a movie or stroll, we would enjoy dinner here. It looks to be in about the right spot. I have fond memories. At 18 yo I and my date were served wine with our lobster. A big deal in those days. Lobster was cheaper than a hamburger. How cool is that?
