This was one of the worst experiences I have had regarding a hotel room.... and I travel frequently for my business. I realize that this is a beach hotel and I was not expecting much in the way of luxury... or any. I travel with my band across New England and the hotels I get are for a quick respite after the show and before getting back on the road. That being said, all that I want is a comfortable bed, clean room and a tv, to relax before sleeping. Luckily for me I went to the hotel to check in before the show and quickly realized that there will be absolutely nowhere to park with my equipment trailer. It's not very big, but with all of the parking essentially under the buildings, this would not be an easy feat at 2AM. I could not park to register at 3PM... nevermind after everyone else squeezed in for the night. Like I said, I was lucky to determine this before going there late and finding out then. I was lucky enough to be able to trade vehicles with a bandmate to lose the trailer. After the show, I took the smaller vehicle to the hotel and still with the small vehicle I had to park by the dumpsters all the way to the back of the building as there were way more cars there than space would allow. I have not even gotten into the room yet. I walked into the room and hit the light switch... nothing... I turned my phone light on and went to the nightstand light... nothing.. so I pulled the cord for the light to find that it was unplugged, behind the bed. When I went to move the bed to plug in the light, the bed practically collapsed and lilted forward at about a 20 degree angle. I was able to slide it out enough to get the plug in and turned on the light. I did not attempt to push the bed back to the wall, as it would surely not have stayed intact. I wasn't going to be sleeping in that bed. Thankfully there was another that I wiggle tested, to see what would happen with this one. realizing that it was not going to be much better. I went to get a towel to place behind the headboard, so that I would not be slamming into the wall every time I turned over. Parked, now having light, I tried to turn the tv on... nothing. I messed with the menu, the settings, the remote.. nothing. now its 3 AM and I'm aggravated and cranky and exhausted. Now it's 6 AM and thus begins the herd of elephants traversing the ceiling on the floor above me. It did not stop until I decided to cut my losses and get back on the road. I'd get better rest sitting in traffic. It doesn't even matter that I'm writing this review, because nothing will be done about it and I spent 278. for about 3 hours of sleep . The hotel will be just as full tomorrow. I will NEVER stay at this place again. Writing this review just made me feel a little bit better... still tired though.

We stayed for two nights end of May and left very disappointed. While the room was clean, the hotel itself is not well-maintained. The mosquito screen on the balcony door was broken, the window blinds were broken. The window itself let the water on after a rainshower - I woke up at night to put the towels under! The furniture is old, the bed-head was broken. There is no place to hang your cloths. The small kitchen not bad, with recent and clean stove, microwave and fridge. There is a strange smell everywhere, I think they spray everything with febreeze, or maybe for bugs (and I cought a couple of ticks in my bed). Went at the reception at 7pm - it was closed, and so was the restaurant - it was Sunday night. When told about issues at check-out, the staff said why not complained earlier, they would have offered a different room! Strange response, why offer a room with broken things in the first place?.. Not worth more than 80$ a night.

Everything was great until bed time. They let at least 3 extremely loud drunk people yell just outside of our room, stomping up and down the stairs, and in the parking just below our window, screaming drunken non sense about girlfiends and Uber rides. We could literally hear everything they were saying from the 3rd floor and on our floor. I had our 10yr old son, my fiance and dog with me. These people kept us and our kid up from 12am to 4am till the yelling stopped. It was only one night or we definitely would have had a word with those guests ourselves and the staff. Kids are trying to sleep here! Its midnight! Wtf! Just couldn't believe that was allowed to begin with. No way other families and guests weren't bothered by these people. Is there even staff for emergencies there at night? Shame on whoever sat there, listened to that and let it happen. If it were more than a night I'd be asking for a refund and leaving.

Like many places in OOB, this place has a lot of wear and needs some care. The room was clean and they have done updates as it was painted, laminate wood looking floors, and bathroom cabinet was new. There were 2 small fridges, microwave and coffee maker. There was no type of mattress pad, sheets right on the mattress, bedding was clean and pillows fluffy. The outside areas needed painting and care. The pool was busy, but fine. The restaurant a plus, but staffing, like everywhere, was lacking. We waited 1 1/2 hours for our dinner, which was just a salad and burger. Mosquitoes were bad, from all the rain, so bring repellant, and if you dine outside use it! Location is great, staff great. Prices lower which is appropriate given updating needs.

Great place to stop for food in OOB!Shipwreck Foods is a small food stand located along Grand Ave just north of busy OOB tourist area. They sell lobster rolls (buttered or mayo), shrimp rolls, sandwiches, wraps, breakfast sandwiches/wraps, homemade banana bread, cold drinks, coffee & tea. Chips or fruit are included with rolls, sandwiches & wraps. I stopped by here recently and got a Buttered Lobster Roll ($25 plus tax) with a bag of Lays potato chips. The lobster roll had tender lobster meat (4 oz) & lettuce smothered in melted butter on the thick soft roll (Market Basket). I enjoyed my very buttery lobster roll and chips out on the beach across the street.

When going to OOB it's about the beach and you couldn't get much closer. A short hop across the street and a 1 minute walk get you to the longest stretch of the famous beach. The winter is quiet and rates (2-week min stay) go way down. The help is accommodating & pleasant. Wifi is free and there is an ice machine in the laundry room. (Some issues with the laundry facility that I'm guessing will be fixed). Grand Beach Inn is on the lower traffic end of East Grand Avenue (the closest street to the ocean). The beach is very pet friendly in the off season which stretches from mid September to mid May here in Maine. The salt water takes its toll on wood and Grand Beach Inn is not immune to it. Winter construction and painting doesn't really disrupt things and it's not very loud. The train (Amtrak DownEaster) runs regularly on the tracks a few hundred yards behind the resort but aside from a little shaking (which you quickly get used to and could set your clock by) it's not a big problem and not very loud. Easy to find, easy to get to, adequate parking, friendly, accommodating help and the star of the show ... the white sandy beach and clean cold water... what's not to like.

Great location across the street from a quiet beach, but like other reviewers have commented, the building is old, the bathrooms are moldy, the rooms have an odor, and management is rude. We reserved a room with 2 double beds and a double sleeper sofa for our family of four, with 2 teens, but at check-in we were given a room with one double bed and a single dorm room futon with no sheets or pillows. Unfortunately, we opted for late check-in and there was no one at the property to help. In the morning at check-out after a terrible night of sleep with 3 people in the double bed and my husband on the tiny futon, I asked about a refund and the girl on duty couldn't help (She'd only worked a week) but said she would leave a message for the manager, who would be in later. After hearing nothing that day, I tried calling the next day, got no answer, then emailed and called multiple times that week, with no response. They don't answer the phone. When I finally got an email reply, there was no apology, but the email started off with the remark that they called me, . I had no message and no missed calls, nor an email. I also called them twice before we arrived- once the week before to ask about an additional room for other family members and again that day to let them know we would be late checking in. No one told us our reserved room was unavailable. They did eventually refund us the difference between the room we ordered and the room we reserved, after I went through Expedia's customer service department. I wanted to support a local business instead of a chain hotel, but this was not worth the money.

Definitely the best lobster roll we got on the beach! Friendly staff and delicious food. This was our favorite lobster roll spot!

First time at OOB and this was by far the best lobster and shrimp rolls made by the kindest people, our girls adored them. We loved it so much, we went almost everyday, sometimes even twice! Highly recommend it.
