Our guests could not stop talking about the amazing time they had at Spinney’s, where we hosted welcome drinks for our wedding weekend. Chris and Maggie made sure we had exactly what we were looking for out of the night - light bites, full bar and a beautiful water view. Several of our guests had a great dinner ahead of our event as well. Thank you for your hospitality and service, it was the perfect start to our weekend.

It was a rainy day and I enjoyed the beautiful view of the water from inside. I ordered the shrimp basket for my lunch. Both the shrimps and French fries were delicious. The waitress was very pleasant and efficient. Spinneys seems to be the only restaurant in the area, and I was happy that it's such a good one. I'll definitely plan another meal at Spinneys next time I visit that part of Maine.

This place is so cute and delicious! We came twice on our trip and had the stuffed haddock, steamed clams, oysters, burger and sweet potato fries. The blueberry Maine mojito is a must try! Beautiful views and a lovely place to take a walk on the beach after a nice meal.
Have come here for years and happy to see what Chris has done over the last couple of them. However, a few things seem to be slipping through the cracks.
The service we have received in recent weeks has been terrible from the same server twice. I even mentioned something to the “manager” (not Chris) last time and she rolled her eyes at me. That experience was reviewed on Yelp a few weeks ago.
Regardless, we always return. I’ve been back twice now since that time and tonight was terrible, too.
Same server and still unpleasant and un attentive. Had low expectations for her so moved on to what I expected to be the typical nice and relaxing local work night time.
The ice filling my $12+ cocktail has risen in recent weeks leaving a few sips of an actual beverage. I get the ice trick but this was beyond acceptable for the cost. The fish tacos (that has been my go to all summer) seems to have crumbles of fish rather than an adequate and even generous about of fish like they did weeks ago.
Our coleslaw cup looked like it was snagged out of a fridge that had been prepped in the same cup days ago. Same with the tarter sauce. They could have at least mixed it around a little to make it look like it was just spooned in the cup to get rid of the coating on the top from sitting in the fridge.
Chris- you have it in you! Don’t let poor service, bad server attitudes, and prep shortcuts be what people remember. As far as bringing it to your attention in person, I could have as you suggest to everyone else. The thing about reviews though is to let others know experiences and should know what to expect even when it’s not your intention.

We loved this cute little find after touring Fort Popham. We had excellent service and the view was gorgeous. We also got lucky and there was a lady playing guitar and singing. Great calming ambiance. We had haddock fish tacos and they were delicious. So were the roasted potatoes.

Everything was fine till we finished our meal. The table behind us just came in with a family of about 5. We got our check and asked for a to go box had a big piece of haddock left. She was paying so much attention to the bigger party she never came back with our box and when she came back she took our money and my food and got rid of it. Guess we should have said something but we didn't see her again. Not a happy customer....
Don't waste your time looking for a bathroom here. I guess they want us to drive miles and miles away to relieve ourselves.

Had the $17 pizza. It was made with a frozen crust that look like it came from a grocery store, but that would’ve probably tasted better than the piece of cardboard that we had for dinner. The chicken wings were frozen pre-battered wings from a bag like Tyson wings. They were gummy, and they drenched them and some other type of bottled cheap sauce to try to hide the flavor. Of course they served it with a side of cheap bottled ranch dressing. They did not even have brewed tea. Even their tea was instant. Please don’t eat at this place. A complete rip off and tourist trap for people going to the state park.

This was a wonderful accidental discovery, and exceeded every expectation.
As a general life hack: when you stumble upon any sea shanty restaurant, always get a cup of their clam chowder to start. In the 20 years I've been applying this rule, I've never been disappointed. Such was my starter at Spinneys. Blackened haddock tacos and two bloody marys rounded out lunch, and y'all... the homemade (literally made by Trish, whose store front is down the street), locally sourced Maine blueberry pie is phenomenal. Their servers are very friendly and knowledgeable, you'll feel right at home chilling at the bar and staring out at the waves.
You'll leave very full (and also a little buzzed, if you're doing it right). But a 40 minute walk back to your car parked in the Popham Beach lot, soaking up beach sunshine and ocean breezes will make all the calories worth it.
If you're in the area, you most certainly need to visit this local gem. Also check out Trish's pie store if you feel like driving.

If it's busy they will deny you takeout, but understandable as they do get slammed! Awesome food, fish tacos are to die for!
