Awesome atmosphere and bartenders
We visited Bramhall twice during a four-day trip to Portland. Sit at the bar, you’ll be entertained! Tasty and creative cocktails, the perfect bar burger, and a cozy atmosphere make it all worth the trip!

We stopped in the late afternoon just for drinks, and I wish I had time on the trip to return for some food. The place is dark, but as other reviews mention, in a good speakeasy vibe way. They have a good selection of whiskeys and bourbons. The bartenders were welcoming and had connections to Arizona, where I live! Their version of the black Manhattan and the boulevardier were a perfect welcome to Portland. I hope to return.

4 stars for the atmosphere as we got there just as the kitchen opened, so it was quiet inside.
That said, this place was a Amazing!
Our bartender was stupidly knowledgeable about drinks, the history of the bar, And we ended up at 2 other hot spots via his recommendations, and had a blast all night !!

Cocktail bar where apparently everything is batch made. Asked for a Mezcal old-fashioned and was told we could only order batch cocktails because they were low on Mezcal. The waiter/hostess was aggressive from the beginning and seemed put out doing her job.

Terrible service!
So a group of my coworkers and I decided to meet at Bramhall for after work drinks. There just seemed to be issue after issue with the staff. Mainly them having issues with us, and we weren’t doing anything wrong. But the thing that really upset us was how rude and arrogant our server was.
The biggest issue we had was when someone at our table was trying to clear some plates from our full table (because our server didn’t come to check and ask to clear any of our plates) and put some on the bench seat behind where someone had been sitting but had been gone for over 30 min. As soon as our party brought it to the servers attention that they had piled some of the dirty dishes, the server went on the defense and scolded us for doing that, repeatedly. Not at all how a server should have handled that. Like saying “hey, thank for compiling all the dirty dishes, but next time just keep it at your table and I’ll come get it”. No, instead she said “DO NOT leave dirty dishes on someone else’s table again!” and said it multiple times.
Then the server went to back to the bar where a person in our party overheard the server badmouthing our table to others. The server then proceeded to ignore our table for sometime. And when she did come back outside she brought the guy who had vacated his table for a while a shot and said very loudly for our whole table to hear, “here is a shot to compensate for SOMEONE leaving dirty dishes at your table.” We were all in shock and highly upset that the server had the audacity to be so passive aggressive.
We then proceeded to chat with the guy who got the free shot and he said he had no idea about the dirty dishes and didn’t care in the slightest. But he joked “thanks for the free shot”.
When we decided to go to the bar to get our check because we were fed up and wanted to leave, the server said we could stay and order more drinks, that they weren’t trying to get us to leave. HELL NO! There’s no way we’d spend more money in your establishment after being treated like that. How dare you want more money out of us after treating us that way. I will NEVER step foot in that bar again.

Rude. No wonder the management keeps turning over every few months. Shameful service.

Restaurantji Recommends
Have been here many times before this visit, was very disappointed with how slow the service was compared to how empty the place was. Our server was very polite, just took 15 minutes to take our order and over 20 minutes to come grab our check when we were finished. We finally had to go up to the bar to cash out. The mozzarella sticks were unseasoned and the truffle fired were standard. Moscow mule tasted like lime juice with no hint of ginger beer, my friend got a bourbon on the rocks which they liked. Overall disappointed with this visit. I always recommend bramhall for people to try out.... Maybe not anymore.

Had an amazing evening here! The boys got insane cocktails smoked with rosemary and I had a phenomenal mocktail. Don’t sleep on the cannolis from the oldest Italians restaurant in Portland upstairs they were the perfect bite sized sweet treat after dinner. We had Madison as our server and she was awesome and attentive- she gave us the whole history of the space and it was so cool to hear about ! The lighting is beyond perfect and romantic. It was so hot out and the ac was pumping!

Generally a nice place deserving of a good rating. Staff is accomodating, some dishes are maybe a bit much but overall it's a good venue.
