I tend to avoid the hip and modern because the long waits and awful customers tend to mess up the experience. We got there around 9am and the line was out the door but boy did they move fast. We got 6 different goods plus coffee. Hot latte was a show stopper, be careful as people do tend to half-hazardously grab drinks and our ended up taken….twice. The biscuits were on par with scones. We have done extensive traveling throughout the US and this has to be one of the best, if not the best coffee and bake shops we have ever been too! Right by our airbnb, we kept coming here every morning for breakfast while we were in Portland. Menu highlights were the beet quiche, egg and cheese biscuit sandwich, loaded biscuit with butter and jam, cappuccino and last but not least the pistachio olive oil cake!

Of all the bakeries and coffee shops my husband and I tried on our trip to Portland, Tamdem was our favorite! The Americano was delicious and the salted coconut maple scone was one of the best I've ever had with the perfect crunchy texture on the outside and soft inside. I also tried the blood orange scone, which tasted a bit pithy to me. There was a line at 11:00 on a Saturday, but it moved quickly and there was plenty of seating outside.
