Best steak and cheese in Maine.
I mean this may have been some of the most overpriced food I have had in a while. Portions are small for $30 plates and not that great of food. We were seated by the door and I was bitten by bugs. The service was lackluster. It fully seems like you are paying for atmosphere and I wouldn’t rate that too high either.
Very poor service, food was very expensive to be aggressively mediocre, the atmosphere was not great, and we got bitten by mosquitoes somehow sitting inside.
Heads up, you're paying for atmosphere and nothing else.
Seated in the dining room, we waited at least a full ten minutes before a different server asked us if we'd been greeted yet. A few minutes after that, our server finally arrives. We had to push for our drink order because she asked us for our appetizer before trying to shuffle away.
Appetizer was the best part of the meal, as the basil did a LOT of heavy lifting.
Both entrée meals were as bland as could be. Very basic, diner-level food. But for $30 per plate. Add something, anything, to your alfredo and red sauces, because you can buy a bottle of ketchup that has more flavor than either dish.
We eat out very often, and this is only the second time we've left as low a tip as we did tonight. Service was very, very weak. But she had a pulse, so it seemed almost fair to leave SOMETHING.
If you want weak, bland, diner food, there are so many options in town, but with the price to match. If you expect a $30 (pasta) dish to taste amazing, the Tuscan Table does everything better than Bruno's.
Entrees were Eggplant Parmesan ($28.95) and Chicken Broccoli Alfredo ($28.95)
The blandest Italian food that this Sicilian has ever had, absolutely zero flavor. Luckily there was salt and pepper on the table. I wanted to go up to the line and ask if anyone in the kitchen actually tastes anything that’s being prepared as both entrees were just dead-on-arrival. The highlight of the meal was the Mozzarella Pomodoro appetizer ($15.75) (Caprese salad with marinated peppers)
We waited almost 10 minutes before our server came over to greet us (Thursday evening at 7pm, and there were 5-6 empty tables in the dining room, and even then she opened with “do you want to order an appetizer”…I said why don’t we start with drinks first. Our bill was over $90 for one appetizer, and the 2 entrees as listed above. I was charged an additional $3.50 for a “refill” of my Diet Coke. I just moved out of the West End of Portland and to the Payson Park area and wanted to give this place another chance…..I should have just gone to my fave the Corner Room.
I have been here so many times, and love the place so much that I got a job here as a grill cook. The place is bitchin. And I do believe they kick Ed the ass off the COVID scene.
The food was delicious, I enjoyed my pasta dish and loved the seasonal cheesecake. The one downside was the long wait to get our food - most likely because it was a busy Saturday night and the restaurant was crowded.

Excellent service you get nowhere else. Traditional and family oriented experience in a comfortable atmosphere. Food is unbelievably fresh and tasty. Most of the food including pasta entrees are prepared in-house from scratch. Well organized kitchen with knowledgeable and professional staff.
Parking: Wide open parking lot in front that extends way out towards the back.
