This is a very spacious Coffee by Design. If you've been in Portland for a long time, you'll know that most of the coffee by designs have been small, cozy spots. This is more of a cozy large spacious one! Definitely not intimate in the main room but there is a separate seating area that I believe used to be for staff only which now they have opened up for customers. That's a nice spot if you prefer more quiet. Anyway, the coffee's always great as it is at every Coffee by Design. The customer service is always pretty good. They have lots of different types of seating , for example, you can sit at the bar where the baristas make their magic, or you can sit at a two top table, or you can sit and lounge at one of the tables that has leather cushion seats. They also have large glass windows into the roasting room (is that what it's called?) that can look through.It's my favorite coffee shop in Portland. And if you want to celebrate true Portland local business, go there.PS I am so so sad that I'm not able to bring my pup in with me anymore. I've always been appreciative of coffee by design, allowing well-behaved dogs to accompany their owners. I think it's because now they have some food items. A great coffee roaster and shop. Stopped by to grab a coffee on my way out of Portland and for my drive back to NYC. They had a large selection of different roasts and I grabbed a bag that fit a flavor profile I was looking for. With the purchase came a free coffee and I tried their brewed light roast. It was delicious and hit the spot. The service was good and the space was big enough for people to gather and enjoy coffee too.

I visited Coffee By Design on India Street and as always found a nice, quiet location to enjoy a delicious coffee. Wiley at India Street was incredibly helpful, and fun.

Nice, comfortable place with coffee the roast in-house, good baristas, and plenty of seating.Parking: Limited parking spaces shared with a neighboring eatery. The street isn't busy, so maybe you can park there, too.

Made us wait for a coffee and told us they do latte art. Had to wait and coffees got cold then they had no one remaking them when we were told they were. No communication between employees and girl at cash register is very rude.
