AMAZING!!! We got the sushi burger and the poke nachos and I can't express enough how DELICIOUS they are.The nachos are sooo crispy and pungent with tuna pieces. The sushi burger that has the crispy rice and tuna in between. It is THE BEST sushi I have had in southern maine. My mouth is watering for the next time I'll be here.

Y'all--I'm pretty sure the sushi burger changed my life. Unfortunately have zero pictures of it because it didn't last long in my hands before making it into my mouth. Soooo delicious, it inspired us to go back for seconds and try the tuna tartare tower, which was equally if not even MORE delicious! This is pop-up sushi can usually be found at Austin St. Brewery on Saturdays, but if you're unsure--check out his Instagram where he posts his locations for the weekends. Austin Street also has amazing beers, so you get a lil 2-for-1 action on trying some of the best bites and drinks in Portland! My favorite thing about Austin Street is they are one of the only breweries that gives Pale Ales the recognition they deserve.

We stumbled upon a food festival and decided to try this out. We had the sushi burger and the poke nachos. Both were delicious! I kind of expected the burger to be weird since sushi and burgers don't seem to go together, but it worked. The bun is made up of two rice patties fried up, and the meat was a mix of crab and tuna. There was a teriyaki sauce that kind of pulled it together. The poke nachos had great flavor, but there wasn't quite enough topping for the wonton chips. Overall, it was so good, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're in the Portland area.

Wow! What a surprise Great Wave Sushi was earlier today! The sushi was absolutely delicious. A really nice spin on traditional sushi. Kudos to Chef Alexander Herzog, and team. Even though I'm here for a short time this trip, I will likely go back for more! I highly recommend Great Wave Sushi, wherever they may be. It looks like their website calendar shows their current location. Enjoy!

I was on the brink of tears as I ate my sushi burger. I am from out of town and know I will probably never have another for the longest time. Food is amazing. The combination of everything was soooooo good. Tuna was amazing. The wait is WORTH IT. Whoever took my order, they were so nice. Please come to Minneapolis.
I could eat Great Wave any day of the week. Alex the chef is truly impressive and so friendly. He works so hard and that work shines through with delicious food. The sushi burger never disappoints and the spicy tuna rice bowl hit the spot. We also tried the tuna sashimi for the first time last night and it was perfect. The portions are big and his creations are innovative without being overly played out fusion.
