We stopped in without any prior research or knowledge of the establishment, and found ourselves delighted with the friendly service, inspired cocktail creations, and exceptional food. The haddock chowder was smokey from bacon and studded with large chunks of fish. The mussels were plump and covered with melted leeks and white beans in a savory broth. The lobster roll is what you hope and expect from Portland.

Great hang and no pretense! Hoping they reprise the Thanksgiving Day late nite reboot this year! Henry’s is great anytime of year, but there’s nothing better than the late nite Thanksgiving dinner on a sandwich, with drinks and a “green tea” chaser! Cheers!
There are a LOT of touristy restaurants in the Old Port section of Portland, Maine and you should avoid the vast majority. But Henry’s Public House is right there among the cool art shops, pot dispensers and chochky shops with a wonderful chef and a great atmosphere. The food is really good!
