Fun vintage, eclectic space with friendly staff and delicious food. The space is very clean including the bathroom. They have a simple menu but still hard to choose. We had the French toast and brisket hash, the hash was one of my favorite meals I've had in Portland so far. The drip coffee was very good and the latte was amazing (house made syrups). 10/10 would recommend.
I cannot say enough good things about Ruby’s.I have to start with the food. Wow. It never disappoints. I have to force myself to order anything but my favorite (harvest bowl… wow. Feels like a new experience every time it’s so vibrantly seasoned!!!) because the menu is so varied and inclusive (gf/vegan/veg). They were even kind enough to veganize their chicken and waffles for me! And the baked goods!!! Just make sure your belt has the notches to support this experience. The local variety cannot be beat. Now the staff. The owner came round and chatted to us, plugging us into some local events we (as new portlanders) would love. They took their time and really made me feel welcomed and included in this community. And their other staff are so pleasant and wonderful. Dave is so nice. It’s more than a dining experience here. It’s a community event.I also love grabbing a cup of coffee to relax with or to go. Their business model supports their staff with fair wages and they invest back into the community with their finances and events. Supporting Ruby’s truly is supporting the ME community.Good food. Kind, wonderful staff, and the food is so dynamic and flavorful. You HAVE to come to Ruby’s if you’re visiting portland. You just have to.
Dietary restrictions: Vegan and gluten free options were abundant and delicious!
We were there for breakfast. The menu is eclectic but they will make anything you want. Service was friendly and good. They have nice baked goods. All three of us enjoyed our breakfast.
I had the Biscuits and Chorizo Sausage Gravy. The Biscuits were like little heavenly clouds of deliciousness, and the chorizo sausage gravy was flavorful with a slight touch of heat. I dipped my scrambled eggs into the gravy on each bite. I was tempted to lick the plate clean...very tempted. My wife scraped the remaining chorizo gravy onto her meal for scrumptious final bites.
Hidden gem!!! Worth a little walk from town. Cozy atmosphere, kind staff and the food was out standing good old fashion comfort food. I can’t recommend more highly. Biscuits and gravy with chorizo sausage. Yummmmm
Absolutely fabulous. The theme is "Grandma's hospitality" and it shines through with the amazing staff, delicious beverage selection, incredible variety of choices, willingness to accommodate dietary restrictions (just ask!), delightful ambiance, and as an added bonus - a side of social justice built in to boot! Ruby's is quite literally a neighborhood gem. There's always a seat at the bar ready to welcome a solo diner, as well as plenty of space for larger table reservations. The menu changes weekly so it's always fresh (just like the ingredients - generally sourced from local purveyors). The pastry selection is sinful. Vegan options are available (and delicious). Just such a warm, welcoming place. A local spot that's basically hidden from the main strip - honestly I write this review with such conflicted emotions, I don't want it to be "instagram discovered" for the magical place it is. Parking is available, dog treats are available, coffee is available and amazing. (PS All the food in my photos? VEGAN!)
It doesn't get better than Ruby's -- a go-to spot for authentic and absolutely delicious food for all occasions. The space is comfortable and casual with so much character, and every member of the staff is truly wonderful. We were lucky enough to have Ruby's cater our wedding and could not have been happier with how it all went. Corrinna and each member of her team were kind, thorough, and truly went above and beyond. I can't even count how many people told us that our food was the best food they've ever had at a wedding, hands down. You've gotta love Ruby's!!
Ruby's has quickly become a neighborhood favorite! I can't put into words how happy it makes me to have such a wonderful go-to spot for drinks and snacks whenever I need a little pick me up. Their scones never disappoint and its amazing that they consistently offer gluten free and vegan options. I can't write a review without mentioning just how lovely the staff are. Always welcoming and offer genuine conversation when I stop in. Just a beautiful little place they're building. I'll be back soon!
Dining at Ruby’s felt like walking into your grandma’s dining room — the space was cozy and welcoming from the minute we stepped inside. Random kitchen gadgets and vintage photos covered the walls, giving the place a nostalgic vibe. It was almost like stepping back in time. We immediately fell in love with the restaurant. We called and made reservations for brunch and were able to snag a table for 2pm. I totally recommend calling beforehand to book something as they get quite busy! Our table was ready as soon as we arrived and we were met by the kindest staff. The service was exceptional throughout our brunch — staff was attentive with water refills, coffee, food, and everything else in between.Although the menu wasn’t too extensive, we were pleasantly surprised with the choices. Ruby’s has a bit of everything — from French toast and burgers to shrimp and grits and salads. We were very happy in that regard. Our coffees were also phenomenal, and they do free refills which we really appreciated.I went for the French toast and my partner had the burger. The French toast was delicious, not too overly sweet or thick like other ones I’ve had. I’m not even the biggest fan of French toast but really loved theirs and would seriously come back just for this dish. It was topped with the perfect amount of chocolate and Maine maple syrup. For $10, it was also a great deal as the portions were generous. My partner said his burger was delicious. A bit on the higher end for a burger ($19), I did find it odd they couldn’t cook it to order since it wasn’t a smash style burger. Although the burger was yummy — and here’s my one constructive comment for Ruby’s — the presentation could’ve been much better. The upper bun of the burger looked like it was falling apart; it almost looked like a bottom bun. The bread was just too small for the patty so everything fell apart easily once you tried to eat it. It looked more like a fast-food burger than a $19 burger. However, all in all we were really happy with our dining experience and would definitely visit Ruby’s West End again. The ambiance was delightful, the food was delicious, and the service was top-notch.I do recommend reading a bit of the restaurant’s history on their website, as it made a lot of things make sense. For instance, the first thing we noticed when we sat down was the wrinkled tablecloth that was too small for our table. Something about it felt out of place. However, we then learned that to make Ruby’s a reality, neighbors from the West End came together and donated all sort of items — from tablecloths to glassware — to bring the restaurant to life.
honestly, this place was great! the food tasted amazing & looked amazing, the waiters were so nice, & the place looked so pretty!! i would definitely recommend eating here. the bathrooms also included actual rags to dry your hands instead of using paper towels, & it wasn’t one rag that you share with everyone, there was a basket you could put used ones into. (also if its a cold day, & you get pastries for brunch, they sometimes heat them up for you!) this place should definitely be one of your top choices to get food!!!!

I vetted numerous brunch spots in the city before choosing Ruby's, and was charmed from the moment I walked in. A big sunny room with funky decor, a happy buzz from the (totally boooked - be sure to reserve) tables of locals, and a creative menu of food and drink. Service was friendly and attentive, and our entrees were both generous and delicious. Sadly, we were too full to take advantage of the five dessert offerings, but I will remedy that when I return.
I really love this cozy brunch spot but that last few times I have been here the staff seem a little bit overwhelmed and the communication between front and back of house seems a little bit delayed or confused. I ordered a glass of wine and it never came, my friend ordered the burger and we were pretty surprised that it was simply a burger with no sides or accoutrements. I got the chicken entree and it is the fist thing I have ever had at ruby's that I simply could not finish. It also took about an hour to come out. I love the idea of ruby's but i think a few logistics make it a little bit of an inconsistent experience. I have also noticed that a lot of things I try to order there are out of stock. hopefully they iron out these issues!
Ruby’s is literally the best. Ever since we moved to the west end we have loved this location for weekend brunch and coffee (used to be aurora provisions, BELOVED in the neighborhood!). The entire team at Ruby’s goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, including kids, and I would literally die for the Dutch baby. Grab a seat at the counter if you want to chat with the staff, or a big table with friends for a fantastic brunch. Best of all, Ruby’s very publicly prioritizes paying their staff a living wage and as if I didn’t love it instantly anyway, that sealed the deal for me.
When people want to create a space for celebration, for treating workers well, for delicious and unpretentious but thoughtful food, well I'm in. I love knowing that when I go to Ruby's I'm going to be taken care of in every sense of the word. The staff is incredible. Matt and the kitchen team are super talented. Front of house are kind and hard working. As a new business, watching them navigate everything that comes up in a way that tries to make the community feel heard and cared for makes Ruby's special. Go get the Dutch baby or anything Matt makes with pork. Seriously any part of a pig. Or beets. Or Corrinna's desserts. You get the picture.
Showed up for a 730 reservation was not sat until 9pm, told the chefs menu i reserved was no longer available since THEY MADE US WAIT SO LONG WHEN I CALLED At 6pm to reserve this table for Valentine’s Day!!! then served burnt Brussels sprouts and milk soup for an “appetizer” (wasn’t appetizing at all tbh) this place needs some help… great concept for a restaurant, horrible horrible execution! Will never be back! Couldn’t even finish the flavorless pork belly served on a bed of mushy (potato’s??) the means aren’t even legible… worst restaurant in town! Although the woman at the front is amazing the cook should find a new profession… I’ll be suprised if I don’t get salmonella poisoning from this gross food
