My wife and twin infants stopped in on a Sunday morning at around 8:45am and were able to be seated right away. We were greeted with smiles and two high chairs were set up for us at our table — that was very accommodating. It looked like the crowd was rolling in behind us for the morning. The coffee was delicious— the best cup I had during my stay in the Portland area. The staff was all very friendly, my boys enjoyed watching the gnocchi get rolled out and cut. We had huevos rancheros, biscuits and gravy, and silver dollar pancakes. Everything was spot-on. The amount of gravy on the biscuits was well portioned! The seasoning was great too.
It was a cute neighborhood spot that made me wish I had some place like the Front Room back home. After we ate, we walked down a couple blocks to the park and enjoyed the rest of our morning.

Corned beef hash did not disappoint. However, the biscuits and gravy seemed light on gravy and seasoning.

The simple eggs, home fries, and toast with sausage was amazing. Good strong coffee. It is also a cozy place to eat. Staff was cheerful and helpful.
A nice time at the Front Room. The food was good but not exceptional. One plate was delayed and the server didn't offer any apology or explanation. He just waited on others while we all sat waiting. Overall, a nice place and good food, but there are better options in Portland.

I've been in several times for brunch but this was a first for dinner. The food was outstanding! We both got the braised short rib and it was so tender. I had the French onion soup to start and my partner greatly enjoyed the deviled eggs (which are often on Portland menus but rarely live up to the expectations we got at the Front Room). We went out on a Friday night to celebrate a new promotion so the place was crowded and very loud but we understood that comes with the territory on a Friday night. Our server was great but a bit speedy to dart off after delivering drinks or apps making it harder to slip in requests. However I would see him over at the drink station scanning the dining room for his tables to anticipate their needs and show up to take orders or greet a new table. I was impressed by his awareness of the room and as it became lest boisterous he connected more with us over our menu choices letting us know the short rib is his favorite as well. Overall I would highly recommend the Front Room for a great value and amazing food. (Free plug for the Grill Room if you want a fancier dinner out and the best steaks in Portland.)
