The pimento cheese and carbs app was a hit (wife thought it was good, husband described it as “fire”). VIEUX CARRE (Michters Rye, Cognac, Cnia Mata, Benedictine, Angostura & Peychaud Bitters) cocktail was great. Wife got one of the whiskeys on the rocks (can’t remember which) and it was tasty and presented well. Great views outside, didn’t sit or look inside at all. The HUUUUUGE selection and extensive craft cocktail menu makes this a must-try.

5/5 stars, if we could give more we would. The bourbon was on point, the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Speakeasy chill vibes, great end to a day. We enjoyed the bourbon flight and the incredible smash burger, it may have been the best smash burger I have ever had, paired with handout fries, you cant ask for anything better. You dont want to miss this spot if you enjoy good bourbon.

Excellent service(except when he disappeared for a bit?), he was super helpful, very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions, definitely a hidden gem, especially for wiskey/bourbon afficiandos. They even had a really good house-made black Manhattan on DRAFT!

Beware! Avoid coming here for the food at all costs! The Independent Ice Company is the classic example of a bar that is so focused on producing a good cocktail that they forget about the food.
A bunch of us went for cocktails and dinner here on a Friday night. We should have known better when the bar was full but the tables around the bar for food were empty. One of the bartenders come over to serve us and created some great cocktails. But after that everything went downhill.
We ordered an appetizer that never came. I had to get up TWICE to find our bartender and remind him that we were still waiting after 15 minutes before it eventually arrived. After waiting even longer for our entrees, we gave up and decided to leave. I could not even find the bartender. I had to go to the manager and told her to cancel our food order. The bartender apologized and agreed we waited too long. He offered to put our entrees in a doggy bag but by then, we just wanted to leave. Lesson learned.
This bar may make good cocktails, but avoid the food. Both the service and food quality disappoint big time! I am going to let the bartenders magazine that gave this restaurant/bar a high rating. know about how poor this bar really is.

A wonderful place, great staff working very hard on a busy street. Good selection of bourbon, I'm a scotch person and wasn't disappointed. Food good, clearly more pub food than fine dining but you won't be left hungry.

Fantastic spot for whiskey lovers! The selection here is absolutely amazing — one of the best we’ve seen. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and Ally behind the bar truly made our visit perfect.

Browsing the cobblestone alley before setting our sights on this place. At first it was because their outdoor seating looked inviting, but later it was because their simple menu seemed perfect for a drink & a snack.
We were the first customers to be seated outdoors, as they were just opening up at 4pm. It quickly filled up soon after.
The waiter was super attentive and friendly, informative too as he was telling us the exact farm from where they sourced the honey.
The twisted mule was strong but firm (if that's even the right word to describe a drink?). Husband quickly got to his happy place.
The board was fantastic. The honey and cheese and grapes and bread combination surprisingly worked really well. And they gave you fat chunks of it too... to remind you to gobble up the finer things in life. Definitely give this place a try if you are looking for a well made drink.

Honestly, I don't even like whiskey and went because a friend loves it but I loved the place! Beautiful bar, super welcoming staff, got a whiskey cocktail that I actually really enjoyed and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I visited here a few years ago and really enjoyed the Independent Ice company. We came back this week and it was even better than the first time. The staff is exceptional, truly knowledgeable, and they make you feel like family when you’re there. The selection of whiskey is absolutely amazing and the knowledge they have about each whiskey is also incredible. The food is excellent also. All the way around, an amazing experience. This business will always be a favorite of ours.

Mike, Cole, and Ally were a perfect team! I had a wonderful, curated experience with some of the best whiskeys available paired with incredible knowledge and personality. Highly recommend!!!
We arrived late in Portland and were looking for a nightcap. Happened on this place and we were so glad we walked in.
Fantastic drinks, I had the smoky Manhattan, but all our drinks were perfection.
Wonderful and attentive service, our waiter was amazing.
Great atmosphere. Very sophisticated, no rowdy crowd. This looks to be one of the few nice places that is open past 10 pm on a Sunday.
Would come back here anytime!
We didn't eat anything here as we had gotten food earlier on the road, so I can't comment on the food.
