My aunt and I went to Archer’s on Monday and splurged for lunch and totally enjoyed ourselves! The setting was gorgeous, beautiful with views of the harbor and we had the best seat in the house. The staff and were friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. We tried the peekytoe crab cakes and oyster Rockefeller for appetizers and had the lobster lunch special! Have lived in a variety of places up & down the Maine coast and eaten at many a waterfront restaurant. Some, I think, figure the view will distract you from sub-standard food - lobster roll served on a tiny hot-dog bun, burnt/dried out fries. Granted, it's not haute cuisine you expect when you eat at one of these places, but done well, it's a delicious and essential part of a coastal visit. My husband had stuffed haddock, he said was very good. My meal was awful, the fried baby whole belly clams and 4 scallops were very over cooked for the price $32.00 and our drinks were not good either. We won't be going back. Probably better in summer not winter.
