After traveling all around the Ellsworth, Gouldsboro, Steuben, Milbridge areas for the past week we happened to pass by 47 West while passing through Rockport on our way back to Portland. Seeing that they had coffee we quickly reversed direction and returned to this adorable coffee house and store. After drinking swill that was labeled coffee for a week we were thrilled to find an excellent cup of Joe for a change! Not only was the coffee great, but the store was stocked with wonderful cookies and pastries! But that’s not all! The service was friendly and welcoming, and the rest of the store also contained a wide variety of home goods and gifts! What a great place to stop!!

What am I missing here? I keep going back to re-read previous reviews that use superlatives like "amazing," "best ever," and "incredible." I spent just under THIRTY NINE DOLLARS to purchase 10 (and 2 free) cookies I have ever tasted!!! They almost seemed unbaked. The ones with berries even tasted awful. I will admit, though, that the cookies I purchased with chocolate had large chunks of chocolate in them and were very good. I'd NEVER go back there and it irked me that I had to toss that much money into the trash. What made it worse is that I brought these to a friend's house as what I thought would be a nice surprise. Ugh.

Really cool shop with kitchen and home items downstairs and a bookshop upstairs. If you like manga books, they have plenty. The coffee bar was fantastic and it was some of the best iced coffee I’ve ever had. The cookie counter was overwhelming in a good way trying to figure out what to get. Really good cookies! Also great breakfast wraps available, too.

I loved this cafe. I'm vacationing in Maine and I just wanted to find somewhere I could get a decent cup of coffee. I found that and more at 47 West! First of all there's a PARKING LOT which is a huge plus, especially in this area. There's a super cute shop inside and it smelled like fresh cookies (probably from all the fresh cookies they were baking lol!) Best mocha latte I've had in a long time, and I used to be a barista. Highly recommend.

They serve delicious coffee and treats. They also have an eclectic selection of books. If you're into manga they got you covered. To me 47 West is like an oddities shop in a children's book where magic cupboards can be found.
