We had Taboo BBQ cater our wedding! Not only was the food amazing ( everyone loved it not just me ) Jess went above and beyond to make sure my wedding was perfect and I had ever I needed! We had plenty of left overs for our guests to take home as well. I highly recommend them and my husband and I can not wait to go have dinner there!
Waited an hour for absolutely cold brisket tacos, had a lovely time listening to the server and kitchen staff yelling at each other. The only thing that would have fixed this would be to hire new kitchen staff.*Edit in response*I was not there tonight, for one. And my review is not misplaced as when I was there yesterday, our brisket tacos were absolutely cold. Not warm, not lukewarm, COLD. I was there yesterday at 8pm, it took 45 minutes plus to get a wedge salad, Mac & cheese (which came out a good 10 minutes or more) before the brisket tacos came out. So maybe figure out your kitchen before assuming a review is misplaced, as I do not write false reviews. I wouldn't even have cared about the wait time if the food was actually hot.
So I don’t typically leave reviews of restaurants after eating there but I felt like I had to for this one! I was reading many of the reviews when they were a Mexican restaurant and many where not favorable. However, now that they have switched it up to BBQ they are killing it!! I am a bit of a BBQ enthusiast and I know good BBQ when I have it and have had many that are mediocre at best (including some of my own). I was quite surprised to see a 1000 gallon pit rolling smoke in a coastal town that is known for lobster so I had to check it out. I had a great chat with the pit master and he was happy to show me around his pit. We ordered the brisket, ribs and pulled pork with sides of Mac & cheese, baked beans, cole slaw and cornbread. The brisket was cooked perfectly! It passed the pull test and the bend test and was seasoned very well! The pulled pork was also great although I prefer mine not sauced. Didn’t take away from the great Smokey flavor though, I just like mine with a little of the rendered juices for flavor. The ribs were also cooked well. Had to tug just a little to pull away from the bone (the way ribs should be)! The sides were good but really the star of the show should be the meats and they were amazing! So if you haven’t been there since they changed it over to BBQ do yourself a favor and stop again if you like good authentic Texas style BBQ. And if you don’t know what good authentic Texas style BBQ is, he’s got it going on! Oh and the sauces (while not needed) where also very good. We had the mustard based sauce and the regular BBQ sauce. Both very tasty. Congrats to you guys for switching it up and making a great product. It was a very nice surprise in a Maine coastal town!!
Finally made it over sense the change to BBQ didn't disappoint! There was 6 of us and we ordered alot of food all sharing and there was nothing we didn't like. Flavor was awesome brisket was extremely tender and moist. Pork belly and ribs was also great aswell.
We went to listen to The band. Pleasantly surprised they have Great Food ( the best corn bread ever! homemade ranch dressing and bbq sauce) PLUS fantastic fantastic drinks! The wings are smoked and crispy, the ribs fall off the bone. Our bar tender was very nice and very helpful! Definitely will return for more! They have mini golf next door or catch a drive in movie near by. We saw the movie Jaws after a great dinner, music and drinks. Perfect evening!
I got the smoked pork belly with collard greens and mac n cheese, the pork belly was amazing! It came with bbq sauce, but in my opinion it was good enough to not even need it! My husband got the pulled pork nachos which he liked very much as well. I also had a mango margarita which was delicious! I'd highly recommend them, which is saying something, because most bbq joints I've been to over the last couple years have not impressed me.
So delicious!! The servings are plentiful and the meat is tasty. I paired the burnt ends with side of cucumber salad. Yumsters, can’t wait to go back.
Very typical of the hospitality industry, short staffed. Have heard good things so expectations were high. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The hamburger plate was wonderful. The brisket plates were nearly cold. Food had good flavor. Found the Mac and cheese to be cold and dry. Will be a while before we try again.
We went when they changed to bbg. They were friendly! Mixed drinks were good. My partner got almost everything off the menu (they're from the south) they devoured it all happily. I "from Maine" didn't like most of the sides. I'm mostly vegan, but I tried the ribs... Dang they were good. Worth a stop by.
Food, music & service was awesome!! Brisket sandwich & special sauce, Mac & Cheese w/pulled pork, Ceaser Salad w/chicken, were all so delicious. Its been a long time since I've had an amazing Smokey BBQ flavor like that!

We have small children and visited the golf course next door. Stopped in here for a quick lunch. The restaurant was freezing but waitress was nice. They were out of several entrees (had just opened for the day…?) and the chicken wasn’t ready yet so we ordered a few alternatives. What we got was delicious!! I am still thinking about the HUGE plate of perfect bbq nachos. They were amazing. Hubby enjoyed the fish tacos and the kids loved the mac and cheese. Fries were too salty but otherwise all was fine. A decent lunch with surprisingly delicious nachos.
Great food, delicious margaritas, lots of flavors...guava is my favorite and wonderful staff.
Met friends here for a really great time. Sat upstairs for dinner. The atmosphere is a bit sterile so it took a while, and a margarita, to get comfortable. Our server was fabulous, very attentive. Bar tender, great too. Nice, crispy Chips, and salsa had a good kick. Mexican corn was yummy, placed an extra order. Not typical Mexican fare. Enjoyed the fish tacos. Ended up enjoying the music, however seemed a bit loud early in the evening with only a few folks in the room. Looking forward to the outdoor seating.
We were promptly seated, 6 adults, we asked for upstairs. Jade was our server and quite attentive. Chips and salsa was delivered promptly, loved the flavor of the salsa. Cocktails from beer, Margaritas, manhattan’s and Ghost tequila were all great. Service from the bar was perfect. We had appetizers of Empanadas, Street Corn and Queso Dip were all nice and hot and very tasty. Our orders from Flank Steak cooked very good, Crispy Mojo Tacos very yummy and substituted Side Caesar. A couple of the ladies ordered the quesadillas, they also enjoyed them. The fried Haddock in the tacos, the haddock was cut too thin and when fried turned to a cardboard texture. We did enjoy our night with them and let them know. Jessica was our Chef for the night. Decor was simple but could use something to buffer the echoing noise.
The company was fabulous. The décor is tasteful, but a bit stark. The food was good but nothing spectacular, fairly standard Maine Mexican fare. The house margarita was excellent and the service, by Jade, was very good. Food and drink delivery was timely. We will go back when the outside seating is made available.
