“Been talking about Bar Futo for a year now ever since their pop up at the amazing Koji Club in Boston. Here’s how it went. Get one of everything. Drink a bottle of sake. Chat with amazing staff. Order more yakitori. Have some beers. Order a crazy dessert. Buy the kitchen some shots. And listen to the story of the amazing chef and owner on what it takes to open and run the best new restaurant in New England. I said it. Sorry Boston but gonna have to step it up notch. “This restaurant is my favorite when visiting the Maine Mall. It’s located in the Food Court. The service is fast and the food is very fresh. The owners are very kind and considerate. When my pregnant daughter was in the line with her big belly (8 years ago) the owner pulled her to the front of the line and treated her to a meal. Great place!“

“We were in the area on vacation and decided to give this place a try since we love sushi. For the cost it was a utter disappointment. For $8 you get a chewy Alaska roll for ants with avocado that looks like it was sitting around for a week. When we ordered in person they told us 20 min. We came back after 20 min and they seemed to have forgotten who I was and asked me how they could help me. They then told me 10 more min so I left and came back after 10 min. Once again they forgot who I was, and after I reminded them they told me 5 more min. I then left and came back after 7 min. At least they remembered me that time because they quickly rushed to finish my order. Unless if you want to feel like a different person each time you have to come back to remind them about your order and you want to go to bed hungry, then I would suggest not going here. PS the sushi was bland and just not done well.“

“Came here for the lunch and was not disappointed!! I saw another review that said that it isn’t busy on weekdays at lunchtime and they were correct. I actually liked the peaceful setting. When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile from both the waitress and the man at the sushi bar (I believe this is the cook). I got the tuna avocado roll, the queen roll and yellowtail with scallions roll. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved the Queen Roll. The grilled scallops were such a nice touch!! The waitress and the man making the sushi were very nice and accommodating. You can tell that they enjoy what they do because it reflects in the quality of the food and the service.“

“Kon is always a solid spot to stop in for fresh sushi and a good cocktail. Their happy hour deals are definitely worth checking out. Most of the time the staff is fantastic—this visit may have just been an off day, as they weren’t quite as friendly as usual. Still, service wasn’t bad, and the food more than made up for it. Overall, Kon remains one of the best places around to enjoy a great meal and drink.“

“Food was good. Only issue was the young lady who worked the front. Zero professionalism. Never greeted me nor even looked at me. Just did her thing and yelled stuff at me about signing a piece of paper, disappeared and then five minutes later showed up with the food. At least acknowledge the customers... "Hello. How may I assist you?" I mean, say anything; that's customer service.“

“My boyfriend got the fried rice with beef, and I got the one with chicken - both were amazing! The cheesecake is out of this world - the best I’ve tried in Portland! The staff was also very nice and attentive. Genuinely liked this place and will definitely be coming back!“
