The Chart Room has shown improvement in both food and service, with a friendly and helpful staff. Patience is recommended as they cook to order. The outdoor deck offers a lovely view of the water, and guests can enjoy beautiful views and walks from the restaurant. Some diners experienced issues with noise from loud drinking groups on the deck, which can make it less quiet, especially since the acoustics contribute to the problem. The restaurant offers valet parking, and the space inside is bright with a spectacular view, including sights of Mt. Washington and the beach from certain tables. The menu features great fresh oysters, and the chef creates dishes that look—and taste—outstanding. The clams melt in the mouth, and the dessert options, like blueberry pie and decadent desserts, are well enjoyed. The scallop entree was appreciated, though some felt the portions were small, and a few dinner entrees were sandwiches, suggesting the menu could use more variety. The clam chowders were considered so-so, with lots of potato and not enough clams, and the baked Brie was tasty but served with very hard French bread that was inedible unless you want an emergency dentist visit. Some guests suggested more entrees and desserts, and noted that the requested seating on the covered deck was cool, especially in summer evenings, with some recommending the use of heaters. Service was excellent overall, though visits from staff could be improved. Despite some noise disruptions, a visit to The Chart Room is highly recommended for a water-side dining experience.
