In a time when so many breweries have succumbed to the "hazy IPA' craze Oak Pond Brewing sticks to their carefully brewed lagers. While I appreciate and drink a wide variety of beer styles, Oak Pond is one of the only breweries in Maine brewing Bavarian/German style (malt-forward) brews. This was on our beer tour stop. We pulled in and looked around for the entrance, which is in the bottom side of the house. It was pretty well marked. Once inside, it was a little weird bc there was no one around. Curious, we walked a little deeper in. We heard a voice saying. To come on back. I liked that this place was just a hole in the wall. It's shows a brewer making beer in "his basement" so to speak. He was knowledgeable about the beers we sampled. I didn't mind the $1 fee...read full review

Their Nut Brown Ale is my favorite - and I love that it comes in 24-ounce bottles. Just what you need to sit on the porch relaxing after mowing the lawn or stacking firewood on a hot day!I disagree with the reviews of rude people and problematic, boring tours. This is not far from our home and we've gone through the tour multiple times, and the tasting room and tasting experience is always pleasant. I've always found the Chandlers to be very helpful and friendly.
