Kume Reviews
The one and only time I ate at kume in topsham, they had over-served some customers who were clearly intoxicated and started fighting in the restaurant. No one was able to leave because they were fighting in front of the door. Multiple children dining in the restaurant that night were traumatized. One person was physically assaulted and attacked. Prior to the attack, we had asked kume to call the cops on the people who were drunk because they were out of control but Kume did NOTHING...read full review
I’ve only had two bad experiences here once being hibachi and everything being under cooked and tonight, everything was undercooked and we were ignored most of the night because I had a question regarding something I ordered. I had accidentally ordered the wrong thing and they still wanted to charge me for the correct one and the incorrect one. Waited 30 minutes for a lemonade and 50 for our meals that were undercooked and cold. If you want good service, don’t sit in the dining...read full review
I’m never disappointed when I eat at Kume! Hibachi is awesome (can you have too much garlic & butter? I don’t think so!!!) and the drinks are delicious, especially my fav, the Mai Tai. Everything is wonderful 🍱🥢🍹

Kume restaurant offers a lively hibachi experience, perfect for celebrating special occasions. The dining room ambiance might be a bit dark, but recent renovations have improved seating, making it more comfortable than before. The fresh fish and great service continue to impress, with many diners specifically enjoying the sushi, particularly the special Green Jade roll. Kume is kid-friendly, providing chopstick trainers and a little stuffed chicken toy for young diners. While the food quality varies, some find the hibachi meals, including tough filet and undercooked rice, to be mediocre, others have had excellent experiences. The flaming lime shot remains a standout. The restaurant has a cleaner environment, as all liquor bottles are covered, which some guests appreciate. The takeout orders resemble those from regular Chinese restaurants, but the inviting atmosphere makes diners feel like they are sitting in Japan. Although the sticky floors can be off-putting for some, the buzzing atmosphere is enjoyable. Overall, the attentive staff and enjoyable hibachi shows contribute to a memorable dining experience, even if the chef's flair varies. Whether it is the chicken and steak combo with fried rice or the delightful sushi, everything is fresh and flavorful.
