What a fun place. Very helpful staff, varied menu and good food. I'm particularly fond of the sake martini! But the food is very good as well.

Kume is our favorite local asian place. We love going or ordering takeout almost every week.

Every time I’m in the area, Kume is on the itinerary. Exceptional sushi, fantastic special rolls, thick-cut high-grade sashimi. I’m a sushi fiend so haven’t tried much else, but have had the Gyoza and highly recommend. Prices are outstanding relative to quality. A real ‘banger for your buck’ and well worth a drive, even if you’ve gotta go out of your way 20-30 mins.

Very welcoming greeting. The food was good, fresh, and well presented. They check on you regularly without being bothersome. One thing that particularly caught my attention was the fact that all their liquor bottles were covered. This indicates to me that it's a cleaner environment than most restaurants. I will return

Whether you call it hibachi or tapenyaki or Benyhana, it's a dining experience not to be missed! Watch as your chef expertly prepares in front of you a delightful Asian stir-fry on his enormous flat top grill. Flames jump and dance in front of you while the chef prepares various portions of the meal. There's the adult version and the child version of Sake, which is contained in a squirt bottle and from a distance of roughly 6 feet, is propelled into the customer's open mouth by the chef in a feat of amazing accuracy! It's truly a show first with dinner tacked on as a second part. I recommend the chicken and steak combo with fried rice, a Sapporo beer and take a squirt of Sake!

The one and only time I ate at kume in topsham, they had over-served some customers who were clearly intoxicated and started fighting in the restaurant. No one was able to leave because they were fighting in front of the door. Multiple children dining in the restaurant that night were traumatized. One person was physically assaulted and attacked. Prior to the attack, we had asked kume to call the cops on the people who were drunk because they were out of control but Kume did NOTHING to protect the other patrons dining that evening. I ended up calling the police who came to arrest the two individuals who have already had similar issues in the past we later found out. I will never eat at kume again as it is not a safe environment.

I love this place the first couple times I went but last time I went they made me feel as if my allergies were inconvenient. The original server even walked away after I informed her about them and passed me off to someone else. When I informed him he all but laughed at me. I wouldn’t care if it was an intolerance but it’s anaphylaxis. I had to beg him to just note it for the kitchen. If you have food allergies it’s not worth the risk unless you enjoy being made to feel like shit for having allergies.

We went for a Mother’s Day celebration and enjoyed a tasty meal! The place was buzzing by the time we left, and while it wasn’t the easiest setup for a big group to chat, we were glad they had space for us.

Service was solid overall—though there was a little hiccup when some salad and soup apps played musical chairs. Now, about our hibachi chef… let’s just say he wasn’t quite the life of the party. You know how hibachi usually comes with a side of flair and sizzle? Ours skipped the show and went straight to business.

That said, the food itself delivered! Whether it was from the hibachi grill, sushi bar, or the back kitchen, everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. So while it didn’t exactly blow us away in the entertainment department, it hit the mark where it counts: our taste buds!
