We loved Downeast and stopped in twice in the same day. Nothing fancy, but reasonably priced lobster and a convenient location if you're coming or going from Acadia or Bar Harbor. The blueberry pie was also very good.

This is the place to go for lobster! Skip Bar Harbor's ridiculously overpriced options and get fresh, delicious lobster dishes at Downeast Lobster Pound! We got a single steamer lobster, a lobster roll, and the New England clam chowder. Everything was amazing and super fresh. They pre-crack the steamer lobsters for you, which made it pretty easy to get all the meat out without too much fuss or mess. The clam chowder was also very tasty - they hit that perfect consistency of thick and creamy without it being gloopy or too heavy. Be aware - this is a no frills place. If you're looking for cozy or chic dining, go to Bar Harbor. You place your order at the counter and then go sit until your food is ready to pick up. There is a nice open/partially wind shielded upstairs deck as well as a little inside area. It was plenty comfortable to eat and hang out.

For less than $30/40 you can have 2/3 alive and kicking lobsters, how good is that! That’s a way better price than in Bar Harbor.

While touring around Bar Harbor and Acadia I had driven past this place. Really wanted a lobster for dinner. Their sign said $14.99 for a lobster. Bar Harbor everywhere was over $30. I mean, it's a boiled lobster. Nothing fancy. I ended up stopping here twice! Very unassuming place, kind of hole in the wall vibe. You order downstairs at the fish market. Then go upstairs to the bar. Two fantastic bartenders. (As a solo traveler I usually sit at the bar.) met some locals and other travelers. When your pager goes off you go down to get your food, bring it back upstairs to enjoy. It was awesome. Again, I just had a boiled lobster, so can't speak to other items on the menu, but my lobster were perfectly cooked!! Loved this place and if I lived around here it would become my spot! Thanks for two great evenings!!

We got to the joint and there was lots of parking. There was a line to order, we waited around 10 minutes during peak dinner rush. Staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations. They are prepping to close so they are slimming down their menu. A 1.5 pound lobster was 20 bucks, which was a good price. The clam chowder was more expensive than other spots in the area at 12 bucks. They pick the lobster right in front of you. It was fast service and a very juicy lobster. Would go again

This place was so great we went twice while visiting the area. Even though they only had 2 working the kitchen, food still came out fast and it was so yummy! They also have the best prices around for lobster! While going twice, we enjoyed lobster, clam chowder, fried clams, and fish and chips. All delicious!! Also the bartender was great and so friendly! He let us air play the playoff Rangers game while there, and he made us feel right at home. This place is family friendly, and I cannot recommend it enough!!

We were in Bar Harbor for 3 nights: we ate dinner here twice and one lunch. We tried the whole fried clams: fantastic! Lobster, fried haddock, lobster, lobster stew and local beers. Super value and super fresh. All the employees were smiling and helpful. I highly recommend this place!!!!

Fantastic lobsters at a very reasonable price! We ordered 1.5# lobsters to go to take to our VRBO for dinner. They were perfectly cooked and right on time to pick up. They were so good we had them for dinner 3 times in a week. You can’t go wrong for a lobster ready to eat for $16 each!
Ordered clam chowder, steamers and lobster rolls. All excellent portions and flavors. Indoor and outdoor seating as well as friendly and helpful staff. Go early it does get busy! Would recommend

We stopped here on a whim and we're so pleasantly surprised. It's more casual than all the other spots and prices were a lot better. We loved our chowders and the chicken tenders were surprisingly good. Sitting on the patio upstairs had an amazing view and was really fun. The homemade flavored lemonades with gin or vodka were unreal. I'd highly recommend coming here!

My husband and I stopped while we were camping and this place is amazing. Everyone was SO friendly - from the young gentlemen who took our order, to the bartender, to the guys cooking, and even the owner. So down to earth and hospitable. Would definitely come again and HIGHLY recommend stopping next time you're driving through. Even worth a special trip. :)

I love this place. My favorite is their crab roll. So delicious!! The lobster roll is fabulous too, as well as the lobster dinner. The corn hits the spot, and their cole slaw is too. I appreciate the chips as an option so I don’t load up on fries all the time. Just thinking about all this makes me want to order again!

As fresh as lobster can really get! They pick them live right out of the tank and cook them. Everything was good and WAY more affordable than anything in downtown Bar Harbor. Had a Twin Special (2 lobsters w/corn cob), 2 Caesar salads, and a side of cole slaw. Came to $60 with 20% tip! Wish we found this sooner! Everything was delicious.
