This is where the locals get ice cream. Solid little place by the beach. Excellent ice cream! 5 Stars!

Saw bad reviews and chose to see for myself, glad I did. Ate there twice while in town. Great food, vacation location prices to be expected, great service and right on the beach. Definitely would recommend Forbes

Excellent, attentive service, reasonable breakfast...even the gluten free roll was good. Staying at a local hotel and this is right on the beach. Friend had soft serve one day, another day we had clam and seafood chowder and ate overlooking the ocean...both delicious.

Pricey, average fried food by the beach.
For a chicken sandwich and fries, it’s over $20… That’s the “order it somewhere else” price. Kind of like when you take your car in for service and they say $8k for repairs — sure, they can do it, but do they really want to? Nope.

The menu needs an overhaul. Make people want to buy from you, not walk away. You can get way better restaurant food for cheaper. I guess they survive because of their location, catching weary travelers unfamiliar with the area. Anyone local knows they’re just pedaling mediocre meals next to the Wells Beach restroom (which they guard closely, making sure no one uses “their” spots). As if it were some high-end establishment.

While ordering food, my family was awkwardly stared at for 1–2 minutes by an employee acting strangely. When I went back to the car, he gave me a long lecture about “customers only.” I just smiled and waited for him to finish, until he finally asked, “So are you getting something?” I said, “Well, yes!” He doubted me and I had to show the receipt. Then he suddenly became friendly, and so was I — but seriously, open your eyes and take people at their word. I wasn’t there to sneak in a bathroom break or steal one of their precious parking spots.

What more could you ask for?
Oh, I know… Better ketchup! They have terrible ketchup, which ruins the experience. Strange how a place that charges so much cuts corners on ketchup. Just buy Heinz. Don’t be that cheap establishment with the budget option — people have taste buds.

They do have ice cream, which is a bonus, but if it weren’t for that, they probably wouldn’t exist. The locals know better, which is why they shut down in the winter when you can’t sell sweet cream by the beach.

Whoever’s on the grill should be fired ASAP it’s not that hard to cook a hotdog/burger. Girl who took my order was a snack so I can’t complain about that but also gave me fried dough with no powdered sugar

It took forever to be able to place my order. The service team was very slow and didn’t care much about being able to help out. I ordered a lobster Benedict and the English muffins were very hard. It was not worth the $33 I paid for it

Given the mixed reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by my visit! I came on a busy Saturday in the summer and there was no wait, the food was good, and the location is perfect. Would recommend the fish sandwich!

High priced small portions just because its at the beach. Portions should atleast be what you typically would see not smaller w/ high prices. Foods also just plain.

We asked the guy at the register what came in the seafood platter and he said “idk a little bit of everything.” That should have been the first sign 🙄 so we get it and it’s just so sad. These tiny shrimp and scallops with breading falling off and it tasted like it was fried in old dirty oil. And it comes with clam STRIPS, not whole belly clams. Wish I had known that. My mother ordered the whole belly clams though and they weren’t any better. They were DARK brown and clearly fried in that same old dirty oil. So absolutely disappointing. Between three of us we just picked at it and threw most of it away. When I complained to the guy at the window he said “oh sorry” and just walked away! Terrible customer service. Then we decided to get ice cream. They really need to offer a smaller size or a kiddie cone. We waited 10 minutes for a couple of giant lopsided soft serves that were falling over as they handed them to us and we had to ask for bowls! Start to finish it just wasn’t good. At all. Very sad end to our Ogunquit/Wells trip

We came for dinner. This was terrible. $89 for a burger, a shared chicken dinner, a kids grilled cheese and 3 drinks. Everything had zero flavor, was cooked well - not burnt but just gross for simple food. Best thing on the table was the kids grilled cheese and fries. For how expensive it is, they should atleast offer free refills to choke it down. Especially when eating inside the restaurant. Would give zero stars if available.

Ice Cream is the reason for this place, not the food, in my opinion. The location is amazing, right on the beach front. If their hours were a little later for the night beach goers my review might be higher.

Ordered a grilled cheese and instead of a grilled cheese I got some strange sandwich that included three slices of bread that had a lightly toasted consistency along with not melted cheese. Clearly how they make it the sandwich does not grill properly and that does not seem to deter them one bit.

Forbes; the grilled cheese is a class and does not need to be reinvented by you. Stick to two slices of bread and actually grill it.

The only positive was the fries were ok.

We have visited Wells almost every summer for at least 35 years and have always looked forward to eating at Forbes while enjoying the beach . Something has changed . Our lunch yesterday was very disappointing . The onion rings were always the best and they were definitely not the same product at all . The same for the cheeseburgers . I know prices have gone up , but it was way too much for the inferior food . Disappointing to think we might have to cross them off our list . ☹️

Perfect grab & go! Got a fried shrimp & fried clam roll to enjoy lunch by the water. Lightly battered, soft and delicious.
